Pocket Watch Case

Hamilton 992B 2-Tone Case. 16 size 21 jewel open face lever-set Grade 992B pocketwatch with uncommon 2-tone Hamilton Model 3 case. Case is a Bar Over Crown style that is marked “Hamilton Railroad” on top of the crown, and case has a gold filled center portion with stainless steel front and rear. Inside of case back is marked “Base Metal” but is in fact steel, and this marking is the norm for this type of case. Watch is fronted by a double-sunk enamel “Hamilton Railway Special” signed dial. Movement serial number is C137758. Running and a very nice looking movement with just some typical mild surface marks. Dial faces up very nicely with just a light hairline in the outer chapter at the 22 minute position and a few very small surface nicks, one of which shows up as a small white spot to the lower left portion of the 8 O’clock numeral. Case is very strong with an excellent in hand look and feel and with the original brushed finish on the rear still visible. Case threads can be a bit touchy lining up at the starting point of putting the front and rear on and at the finish point of taking the rear off, this is quite common among these stainless and gold filled cases but once in line threads turn smoothly and correctly. 14K SOLID GOLD HAMPDEN 16 SIZE ANTIQUE HUNTER CASE POCKET WATCH c. The jeweler says it is 117 years old…. The serial number dates it to the year 1899…. The case was tested & is confirmed as 14K solid gold. The case is beautiful… All hand engraved, the watch has a nice clear crystal…. The anchor symbol inside is how they marked a 14K case. You pop out the tiny lever at 4 o’clock to set the time. The front door has good spring & pops open as it should. This is a large, very regal pocket watch…. Man sized watch at almost 2 inches wide, nice & wide as you can see in the photo. This comes from a recent high end estate that was liquidated last month. This is a beautiful 18s 24 jewels illinois Bunn Special Model 6 in an wonderful heavy box hinged Fahys-Montauk #1 case. Serial number is 1524263. Lever set stem wind, bright spotted finish pattern , Olde English movement type. Double roller 6 adjustments to time and isochronism. Watch winds and sets smoothly. Running great but hasn’t been checked for accuracy. Screw in gold jewel settings. The large heavy box hinged case is in great condition minus a few scratches on back of which can be seen in picture.
