C1902 Hamilton 940 18 Size 21 Jewels. Cosmetically Extra Fine Dial & Movement (see Pictures). Good Timekeeping see Testing. The Hamilton 940 grade pocket watch was for many years the company’s centerpiece watch for the Railway Market. It featured “Extra Fine Ruby Jewels, Patent Motor Barrel, Adjusted to Temperature & Isochronism and 5 Positions, Double Roller Escapement and a Micrometric Regulator”. Lids screw on & off correctly. Crystal is scratch free. The gold train & jewel setting movement is clean with No discoloration and has no service tool marks. The engine turning decoration pattern is all intact. The gold letter filling is all there with no imperfections. All setting and winding functions work positively and correctly. Dial is exceptional and has 1 hard to see hairline at 1:00. The watch was observed running and carried in a pocket for 24 hours; the last 8 hours resting on a desk. The watch lost 10 seconds during the 24 hour hours. Further regulation of the watch I’m sure would improve it’s accuracy even more. I have no history of the watch and assume that it’s due for professional serving and adjustments. Lincoln Grade 16 Size 21 Jewels. Finely Accurate Timekeeping see Testing. Lincoln grade watch was price positioned to be slightly less costly than the Bunn Special about 9% less. Materials like ruby and sapphire jewels, gold train and balance jewel screws were the same as the Bunn but the movement was less elaborately decorated and the Bunn was advertised to have “Extra Quality Jewels”. Approximately 13,260 A. Lincoln grade watches were produced. The case is a Keystone gold filled warranted for 10 years in very good condition, no brassing or abuse. The case appears to be original to the movement and not a replacement. Lids screw on & off correctly. Crystal is scratch free. Black letter filling is all there with very minor imperfections. All setting and winding functions work positively and correctly. Dial has a hairline and a minor chip at 5 o’clock. The watch was observed running for 24 hours in the dial and stem up positions. The watch lost 4 seconds during the 24 hour hours. Further regulation of the watch I’m sure would improve it’s accuracy even more. I have no history of the watch and assume that it’s due for professional serving and adjustments. Elgin Grade 149 Hunting Cased Railroad Approved Pocket Watch. 21 jewels Adjusted for Temperature and Positions. Gold Filled 14k Case Marked Criterion 14k. Case shows light even wear (No Brassing) see pictures. Case hinges are good with front cover standing at 45 degrees when opened. Movement runs strong & smoothly, tested for 36 hours ran very well for first 24 hours then accuracy fell off ending about 2 minutes slow. I have not serviced the watch. All winding, setting functions work correctly. Dates to 1896 Serial Number.
