Chain is disconnected from the fusee as shown – not sure of it’s condition and the balance wobbles. Would be a great watch once restored. Stunning pierced and engraved balance cock as shown. The outer case is clearly marked but the inner case is hard to make out but they are original to each other – date marks match. Case Material– Sterling silver hallamrked. Movement Type–Manual Wind – Chain drive fusee – Verge escapement. Dial Condition– Nice for it’s age with original hands. Case Condition– Not bad for 200 years old with some age and use imperfections as shown – silght dings etc. Case Size– Outer case approx. Special Features –A rare find! 1700′s Antique Silver Pocket Watch Verge Fusee (William Anderson)Two Case Missing Crystal. Non running, no key, has some wear & signs of age. Measures 42mm across without outer case, with outer case measures 50mm.

This Antique Georgian Era Verge Fusee Pocket Watch features a sterling silver case with bold Roman numerals on a clear dial. This classic timepiece is a perfect addition for collectors or enthusiasts of antique timepieces, offering a piece of history from the Georgian era. The hour and minute hands are missing, also the key. The white dial with black numerals is enamel on copper, common for 1750s-1850s era.

A very clean late model verge escapement pocket watch in sterling silver. The watch is ticking and the movement is very clean, it winds smoothly. However it only seems to run when laid face down or mostly face down. I wound it about 2/3 to 3/4 and it ran for about 20 h face down, the last time I checked it, at about 16 h, it was keeping excellent time (within 1 minute – of course I cannot guarantee that and accuracy would change with orientation). A competent watch maker should be able to address the issue of the watch only running face down. The fusee chain appears to be in good order. The case hallmarks (inner and outer match) dates this piece to 1865. Both the case and outer case are original – the case serial matches the movement serial. So, that is very late for a verge movement – if you want a verge in your collection for practical use, this one would be an excellent candidate if you can just get the orientation issue sorted out. The only other obvious issue is that the crystal is acrylic and very scuffed – it could be replaced or possibly polished. A domed crystal works well with the outer case design. The case and outer case open and close well, the hinges are good. It’s a key wind watch and the key is included. The movement is signed Hen. ^y Filtness (Henry Filtness) Rotherfield. Rotherfield is in Sussex, England, and there was a Henry Filtness there who was an inn keeper, farmer and coal merchant in the mid 1800s. My research indicates that his son moved to Australia in the mid 1800s. So, we can speculate that this was Henry the Inn Keeper’s watch, and that it came to Aus with his son. I’m not aware of any Rotherfield, or England generally, based watchmaker by the same name. The case is not monogrammed, although it is a Henry Griffin case. The movement features a hand pierced balance arm, with engraved grotesque face. The dial is plain faced enamel with roman numerals, and is in very good condition. See my other listings. Hello, this listing is for an awesome and Rare. 829 Pair Case Sterling Chain Drive Fusee Verge Pocket Watch by Bullingford, London #3454. There is a similar one in the Museums Victoria Collections. This is offered for restoration – Item currently not running-Chain intact and fully wound around the Fusee. Balance appears to be okay- needs restoration – cleaning servicing etc. This Men’s watch measures approx. 56.5mm across the outer case. This is the way I received it outer case and all. Outer case is a bit loose on the inner case but looks and works fine. Outer case is unmarked and has dents and dings. Inner case has some dings but much better. Very high original Bulls Eye crystal in nice condition with some scratches as shown. Case hallmarked Birmingham 1829-see pictures. Round turned columns on the movement. Great find for the restored! Dial is very nice – original Gold color or possibly low karat Gold hands. Antique watch winding key included but not pictured. Total weight is approx. Really a great find.
