VINTAGE 16size HAMILTON Cal. The top plate is marked “Hamilton Watch Co Lancaster, 974 17jewels, Adjusted”. The serial number is; “1582502″. The pendent set watch is running and keeping very good time. Although I do not know when it was last serviced. As you can see the dial is chipped and cracked in the 7:00 area. Comes in a very clean Illinois Arrow chromed case with a recent lucite crystal. One more thing that is a problem with this watch is that the hour and minute hand are loose and should be tightened or replaced. This Rare Museum grade p/watch measures 62mm in diameter (80 with loop) a fine fusee verge gents 3 case pocket watch by Edward Prior, made for the Ottoman (Turkish) market, Overall in excellent condition & working, winds up properly & ticking nicely, (just cleaned & oiled) weighing 142 grams. The cosmetic condition of this p/watch really is superb for this type & for it’s age being an early one of Edward Prior. Starting with the watch itself the inner silver case is hallmarked for London 1833 with the case maker JD. It’s in superb condition with only the usual minor age related edge wear of little importance & some very minor dings. (please look at & enlarge photo’s as they are a large part of my description) The dial is original signed Edward Prior, London & excellent with hardly noticeable only under loop very light hairline & some age related surface scratches as pictured, the class crystal is domed & appears to be the original, the hands too are the beetle poker type & appear to be original too. The second silver case bears the same makers mark & London hallmarks as the inner case, it’s in near mint condition with attractive bright cut detail round the middle & edges, The third case the pin work shell case is also superb with approx. Only 4 pin heads missing & very minor surface wear & a couple of small repairs & surface chips which hardly show at all. All hinges & catches are in good working order, (they do take a bit of getting used to though). The fusee movement winds smoothly & runs well. It bears the early serial number of 50550. It has been cleaned & oiled but no timekeeping or parts guarantees at all are offered with this type of antique p/watch. The movement is also signed with the makers name Edwd Prior & has typical stunning pierced & engraved balance cock & scroll decorated pillars associated with Priors work. It has a couple of service papers for 1865, 6 & 8. Even though at the moment this p/watch winds & ticks ok & the balance is fine etc. NOTE; Even though this has just been cleaned & oiled, it is an antique so no guarantees can be given regarding this p/watch. It does wind & tick away well, but cant be guaranteed. This p/watch comes with a super silver , period Turkish market albert chain with 5 strands & central slider also heart fob medal & tassle with all balls on ends six altogether, has fancy tbar & working dog clip & the sliding part works & slides correctly, This chain tests silver, it’s probably European, dating from approx, early Georgian era c1810 to mid Victoria era c1870, so 19th Century fancy Ottoman/European albert chain (see pictures for more information) Chain measures 245mm & extra 70mm of chain with tassle & weighs 31.6 grams. If you’re in the market for a popular and sensible watch investment, this is your ticket. This fine 60-hour model is in superb working order, with an excellent balance motion that is flat, true, wide-arced and strong-running. The movement is a smooth wind, starts right up with a single flick of the wrist (typical 60-hour style), and lever sets as designed. The movement holds time well within 30 seconds per week face-up after years of prolonged and careful hand-regulating. In the appearance department this Model 15 60-hour Bunn Special is looking most excellent, with bright, 100% tarnish-free and clean winding wheels and clean nickel plates that show off the distinctive Illinois Model 15 circular damascene pattern, spotless clean and correct Reed regulator apparata, 99% of the engraving black paint intact adds real big-time value! , clean looking inside as well as out, and ripping and running holding railroad time! Dial : Illinois “Blindman Monty” style, 16 size, open face, double sunk enamel reproduction, ultra bold black Blindman Arabic numerals with surrounding Montgomery Patented “arrows-out” red five-minute-markers and black minute-markers, correct for all 161As! This dial is in perfect condition, with nary a trace of any hairlines, chips, cracks, chaffing, stains or scratches!!! Hands : Original finish (not doctored up aftermarket) RR-bold blue matching spade hour and pointer minute hands, correct for all 1930s Illinois railroad-grades and in near mint condition, with practically all of the factory original bluing still intact! Case : Illinois “Bunn Special Model” #108, 16 size, open face, Wadsworth 10K smooth Deco style yellow gold fill, slot right, screw-back-and-bezel, fancy dress or more likely railroad case! Here’s Illinois’ Depression-era Model 108, with a wide, mirror-image conserved back framed by the classic triple-circled Art Deco pattern, a thick railroad-approved neck, wide, wind-able crown, and distinctively designed arching engraved bow! This much sought after #108 Deco case is in fully serviceable condition. I have restored and detailed this case right down to the threads so you get the best looking and working case possible! The back and bezel thread up easily, screw on and off smoothly, and both seat tight. The matching original crown’s fluting is still ultra well defined for a tight, sure grip, and it turns freely but, by design, does not extract, so only a lever-set e. Bunn Special movement will work inside. The bow is also its correct original engraved style, shows zero brass or damage, and holds tight to all positions. The crystal is a brand-new, newly installed thick beveled mineral glass model and clear as can be. The case does show exceptionally minimal wear, including very faint and even carrying wear, zero doodlings, no marrings either, zero repair notations even, just a touch of brass around portions of the exposed edge of the back and a small amount of the frame on the left, and certifiably no sign of any dents, dings, dimples or depressions!! I’ve owned this fine timepiece for 20-odd years and it has always run accurately and consistently a real pleasure to own!!
