The watch has a gilt silver hand engraved case depicting enamelled personal monogram of Napoleon I beneath the imperial crown and decorated with various precious stones. The entire case is hand engraved. On the back is engraved the Latin Motto :”Aut Cum Scuto Aut In Scuto” E. Ither with shield or on shield. Or, “do or die” or “no retreat”. A Greek expression that Spartan mothers said to their sons as they departed for battle. It refers to the practices that a Greek hoplite would drop his cumbersome shield in order to flee the battlefield, and a slain warrior would be borne home atop his shield. Waltham’s hunter case type 15 stone pocket watch. The size is about 50 mm including the crown and about 36 mm excluding the crown. When I referred to it by serial number, it seemed to be between 1903 and 1906. Although it is small, the sculpture is a beautiful case. The case itself has no major scratches and there is no dial or vivi. The draft shield and the metal ring that secures the draft shield are not included, so you need to create one.
