These Japonesque Gun Metal cased watches are pretty rare and very attractive examples of the Aesthetic Movement. This one is of fairly standard pocket watch size at 54 m square approx. The case has a nice patina and very slight wear as shown but this has not taken away the detail of the Japanese hieroglyphics which decorate it. Inside is a high grade Swiss Lever movement which although of a low jewel nature, is extremely well made and clean. Despite this it does occasionally stop though. Don’t know the reason. As soon as one twists the watch in ones hand to set the balance wheel moving it ticks away merrily again with good balance amplitude. The pin hand set works perfectly as does the button at the bottom of the case which opens the back. Because the back is top hinged the watch will stand up as a bed side clock. Tiny flake of enamel is missing at the edge of the dial as shown but it is hidden beneath the bezel. Repeat strike works perfectly although first three hour strikes did seem to be a bit of a dull thud compared to the beautiful notes otherwise struck! Now though, even that mild fault seems to have disappeared. All in all, a lovely old watch circa 1880 to 1890 I would guess of rare form and very collectible as well as still being useable also. For sale is a rare 1910s Henry Moser 8 days running quarter repeating travel watch in steel and leather casing. The movement is in clean working condition with all the functions working properly. Dial perfect condition, with no damages. Blued steel hands are original. Inner steel casing is 67mm bezel diameter, patinated, but well preserved. Leather casing is worn, scuffed at the edges but whole with no major tear. Chime of the repeater is really nice. I have tried my best to capture the condition of the item on camera. 1933 Slim Art Deco Omega Pocket Watch, 18S Stainless Steel Case, 37.5L-15 movement. This is a rare and beautiful pocket watch. Dating to 1933 this is an extremely Art Deco creation from Omega. The sector dial is minimalistic but imposing. The triangle shaped loop is another key hallmark of the Art Deco period. With the discovery of Tutankhamens tomb, there was a subsequent integration of Egyptian style into design aesthetics. The ultra slim case is composed of Stainless Steel, which has stood the test of time as it should. Inside we have a 15 jewel 375L-15P movement with Côtes de Genève finishing. The Omega name is signed in the beautiful Egyptian style script. Overall this pocket watch is in excellent condition and will make an ideal addition to a collection. This is one for the Art Deco collectors. Of destination and the value of the watch. Please see the images as these compliment and aid the description provided below. The dial is silver in colour with a grained finish and gloss coat. It is in excellent condition with only speckled deposits of dirt, with no large scratches, areas of patina or marking. The hands are original and are in excellent condition. They are sword style hands. There is some black tarnishing on the tips, but this does come off with polishing. With this being part of the ageing process, this decision has been left to the next owner. The crystal is a replacement and is in very good condition, with no noticeable scratches. The loop is incredibly Art Deco in style and is in excellent condition, with sharp edges and only minor surface scratching consistent with age. Original crown, in excellent condition. In very good original condition with very light surface scratches. It has not been polished. The case back is Stainless Steel and is in excellent condition, with only light surface scratches. The inside is machine finished with spotting and is in clean condition with clearly legible writing. It has the Omega signing in the centre with the case serial number 88147601 below. A Circa 1933 15 jewel, cal. A rare and thin movement for the era, seen in select, beautiful art deco slim pocket watches from the late 1920s – mid 1930s. Keeping time to within -150 seconds a day, with an amplitude of 285 degrees and a beat error of 3.2 m/s. Case with crown: 50mm. Case depth: 9.2mm.
