Pocket Watch Case

A classic high grade railroad pocket watch, made by the Illinois Watch Co. In the very scarce Bunn Special Model. This beautiful watch is an 18 size, Model 6, open face, lever set, fitted with the Gothic Style Railroad Dial and a 21 jewel movement. The watch is completely original to 1897 and features a beautiful 2 tone nickel damaskeened rear plate with screw down gold jewel settings, and fancy Gothic script, also a diamond end stone and ruby jewels. The double sunk porcelain dial is in good condition with a couple of minor chiggers visible in the pics and signed Illinois Watch Co. The case is an original 10K gold filled Illinois Watch Case with its original bow and lightly engraved back. The watch has been running and keeping time and has been fitted with a acrylc crystal which is clear. Nice example for a devoted railroad pocket watch collector. One of the crown jewels of my collection. An Illinois Bunn Special Type I in superb condition. Rare double sunk porcelain dial marked “23J / 60 HOUR” & “ILLINOIS BUNN SPECIAL” is in exceptional condition. No hairlines, cracks or chips. The blue steel hands are immaculate. Type I movement is stem wind/lever set. The movement is very clean and running. The 14k gold Wadsworth case is marked “Bunn Special Model” and shows very little wear. The movement is marked “Motor Barrell 60″ on the barrel bridge (this is unique to the Type I). 16s measures 51 mm in diameter and weighs in at 3.4 oz. This is an exceptional railroad grade watch. Signature will be required as the value of the watch is such that it shouldn’t be left in a mailbox or on a porch. Please inspect all photographs thoroughly. Model 5 992B 16s Hamilton Railway Special 21j RR Pocket Watch Stainless Case. This watch has very little wear and runs well. 18 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Grade 941 Special pocket watch movement/dial/hands. A rare and beautiful movement featuring a terrific 2-tone gold and nickel damaskeen finish and marked “Special” to its barrel bridge, this example is notable for the superb preservation of its 2-tone color. Watch is fronted by a double-sunk enamel dial with script Hamilton Watch Co. Running but balance motion is sluggish and I think likely this movement hasn’t seen any type of servicing in quite some time. Absolutely beautiful movement cosmetically with superb 2-tone color. Regulator assembly has some mild small bits of oxide, and barrel bridge has some marks to its inner perimeter adjacent the regulator adjustment screw. Dial faces up well though with some perimeter scrape between about the 43 minute and the 59 minute positions which was likely cased by the rubbing of a case bezel at one time. It Has a beautiful clean sparkling movement, it is lever set, adjust to 6 positions, and yes Adjusts to Temperature. The Double Sunk a Porcelain Dial is signed Hamilton with big Arabic Black Numerals & Small Black 24 hour numerals, the dial is near mint condition showing one small pinhead chip on the outer edge at the 24 marker. Excellent Black Steel hands, the crystal is nice and clear with light pocket scratches, housed in a beautiful Hamilton BOC 10K Gold Filled Case. Both covers glide on-off nicely.
