18th century english pocket watch. Signed key wind Movement by benjamin sidey, London, model no. Dial: later white enamel, with black Roman numerals, 5 minute markers, fleur-de-lis hands. Inner case: plain polished Gilt Sterling, bearing english hallmarks for London (leopard’s head), sterling (lion), maker IW, date letter O for 1771, measures 41mm, has glass crystal. (there is a piece of paper that says Benj sidey 1769 inside the outer case, that date may be for the movement). Outer case: ornate gilt silver, featuring repousse mythological scene with two figures within a scrolling framework, measures 47.5mm. As is condition, no key, we don’t know if it works, the outer case has some wear to the gilt finish on the high points, was in storage for many years, previously owned, from the collection of a local pocket watch collector. Any payments received for orders on those days will be processed on the following Tuesday afternoon. Our regular brick and mortar store hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 12 noon to 6pm. A Rare Museum Quality. The piece features an elegant design, with all the charm of 18th-century verge fusee watches. The silver casing has a round ball pendant with oval bow. The Porcelain dial is white enamel with Arabic numerals and the hands are gold. The watch movement is composed of a brass full plate resting on ornate rectangular pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, pierced and engraved balance bridge secured with two screws and silvered regulator. The movement is in good running condition. Key and Anchor Fob included. Measures 2 1/4 in diameter and weighs 98.7 grams. Winds up and works. Scarce early 16 Size Waltham Riverside Pocket Watch circa mid-late 1880′s. A fairly low production model and not many survive from this period, it’s over 130 years old. Model 1872, 15 Jewels, Pendant Wind, Lever Set. In an also rare signed A. Coin edge solid Coin Silver case which is somewhat unique. The movement does not secure itself to the case in the common manner later 16 size movements do. Look closely and you will see no movement screws. Also the set lever is a broader style requiring a rather large cutout in the bezel. An interesting early design. The watch has a b. Eautiful dial with black Roman Numeral Hour Numbers and red Five Minute Numbers. Attractive “Moon” hour and minute hands. Nice thick glass crystal. It winds and sets properly. I checked the timekeeping over a few days, some days it ran well and was accurate. Other days it would stop entirely, or lose time. Assume the movement is past due for a routine cleaning, that will be left to the new owner. This watch came from a large collection of vintage and antique pocket watches, it’s history is unknown.
