18 size 21 jewel open face lever-set Bunn Special pocketwatch. Good looking high grade railroad grade watch, this example is from the later end of production as the 18 size Bunn Specials in the 4.4 million serial number range were produced in about 1923 and were the last 18 size railroad grade watches that Illinois made. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel dial and is housed in a nickel glassback display case that shows off the movement very nicely. Movement serial number is 4432248. Running and a nice looking movement with good color and luster. Balance jewel setting is missing a screw. Dial is excellent with just a small curved hairline near the edge between the 11 minute and 13 minute positions. Case is in good condition with a nice in hand look and feel. 23J Hamilton 950B in very fine condition throughout. The yellow gold filled 16 size bar over crown case with Hamilton signed crown has a few light scratches on the back from careful normal use but has not been personalized or abused and otherwise looks great, and although a few minutes spent with a buffing wheel would make the case look like new, I chose not to do that, leaving that option to the new owner. Any discolored areas on the case in the photographs are only due to lighting reflection… This is a NICE case! The dial, hands, and crystal are all in beautiful condition. The 23 jewel Hamilton 950B stem wind lever set movement winds and sets smoothly and is in good running order. Please don’t ask. 18 size 15 jewel hunting case lever-set pocketwatch. Absolutely beautiful movement with a scarce 2-tone damaskeen pattern that features a circular checkerboard pattern at the center, vertical stripes of checkerboard at the sides, and an attractive 2-tone pattern to the mainspring barrel cover. Movement is marked “Adjusted” and would have been railroad grade at its time of manufacture, and this movement is identified in Greg Frauenhoff’s Aurora Watch Co. Book as a Grade 8 with an estimated total production of 1620 made in the hunting case version. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel dial and is housed in a Philadelphia Watch Case Co. Movement serial number is 81499. Running and a beautiful movement with a superb bright 2-tone color and luster, likely the finest example I’ve ever seen for this particular damaskeen. One casescrew is nickel colored so a mismatch to the other blued movement screws. Dial is very nice with just some faint hairlines in the outer chapter. Hour and minute hands are different styles. Case front springs open a bit past 90 degrees but with a light touch continues to open further to a good ways past 90 degrees as seen in the side view photo, front latch hangs up on the bezel at times, neck of case has a small screw hole that is currently empty, and inner surface of outer case back and the cuvette both have some scratches. 18 size 23 jewel hunting case lever-set Interstate Chronometer. Rare and beautiful top grade private label made by Illinois for the Sears Roebuck & Co. The total production of this 18 size 23 jewel hunting case Interstate Chronometer was only 200 made. This example is especially nice with a bold and bright 2-tone color to the movement. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk Interstate Chronometer signed dial and is housed in a gold-filled Keystone hunting case. Movement serial number is 2336865. Running and a beautiful movement with excellent 2-tone color and luster. Dial faces up very well with just a light hairline in the outer chapter at 3 minutes and has several light hairlines in the seconds-bit. Case has a solid overall look with average wear to the engravings, wear to brass on the bow, and loss of the outer surface of the crown at one area. IT’S IN A MINTY CLEAN & BRIGHT DEFIANCE CHROME BASE METAL RAILROAD CASE. THE WATCH HAS A DOUBLE SUNK WHITE PORCELAIN DIAL WITH BLACK ARABIC HOUR NUMERALS & A RED OUTER MINUTE NUMERAL CHAPTER. THE CASE IS SIGNED AS DEFIANCE ON THE INSIDE BACK. THE WATCH IS TWICE SIGNED: ON THE DIAL & THE MOVEMENT. THE CASE MEASURES APPROX. 2 1.8 IN DIAMETER. I WOUND THE WATCH RIGHT OUT OF THE ESTATE.
