For your consideration is this absolutely beautiful 1897 Elgin 16S, 17J, Adjusted, Temp, and Iso Grade 155, Model 6, Class 32 Full Hunter Cased RAILROAD Pocket Watch. Even though it is pendant set, and Hunter Cased, AT THE TIME OF IT’S PRODUCTION IT WAS RAILROAD GRADE. This Model 6 had a run of only 1,000 movements, and total production of ONLY 6,000 MOVEMENTS. This just fully serviced (January 2018), excellent damaskeened nickel movement also has screw in Gold Jewel Settings, Gold Center Wheel, Gold Train and is Pendant Set and Wind. It not only runs and keeps time, it keeps excellent time. This 121 year old movement sets time, and winds easily just as it should. All 3 hands are excellent. They are nicely blued with no rust or corrosion. Elgin was one of the Premier American Railroad Pocket Watch Manufacturers. American Manufacturers made the finest Pocket Watches in the world. Now the home this wonderful movement lives in. It is a 14K Gold Filled Incredible Full Hunter Keystone J Boss Extra Case. This case is ornate, and beautiful, and shows little to no wear. I see only a few minor dings, dimples, and one small nick in the side of the case. You will see these in pictures. The spring loaded front, and back covers work just as they should. The neck, crown, and bow are also excellent. The bow is straight, tight, and shows little to no wear. The crown shows little wear. There is no brassing anywhere on the case, case back, bezel, neck, bow, or crown. It has no monogram. Well, there you have it. I have been a collector for over 30+ years. I strive for absolute accuracy to the best of my knowledge in my listings via descriptive text, and multiple clear pictures. I do not want the new owner to receive any unexpected surprises. This is a gorgeous, timeless American Waltham pocket watch. The gold filled hunter case is ornately engraved, The pattern is the same on front and back with the exception of a blank oval for monogramming. This case has not been monogrammed. A beautiful watch to add to ones own collection or for gift giving. Watch movement is marked as American Waltham Watch Co. With the serial number 15288940. Hunter case is marked as Philadelphia Watch Case Co. Guaranteed Twenty Years and the serial number 8898909. Movement is (3/0) 28mm. The outside diameter of the case is 37mm. The watch crystal is missing and will need to be replaced however, the dial is very clean. NO other cosmetic issues i. Loss of gold finish, noticeable scratches or dings. The watch ran for 18 hours on a full wind-up but will need adjusting as it gained time.
