You will not be disappointed with this fine watch! – Beautiful 18K Solid Gold Waltham Model 1872 Gentlemen’s pocket watch. The case should accommodate any 1872 movement. This is a True Classic American watch. The movement is very nice & clean, with nice damaskeened work. Woerd’s patent is stamped under the balance. The serial number is 1583652, and the case and dial are marked A. One of the winding gears has some spots that I didn’t try to remove. Case is in very good condition, with a few light scratches and a small ding on the rear cover near the hinges. The dial appears pristine, one of the finest I have seen. The dial is marked A. The crystal is glass, and has light scratches. This watch has been well preserved. The thick 18K case covers open and close properly, and open to less than 90 degrees. The bow is stiff. The hands look original. The 18k case is approximately 52 mm at the smallest diameter, excluding the bow and winding stem. The total weight of the entire watch is 120.5 grams. The weight of the case without the movement, winding stem, and crystal is 61.7 grams. And the case does not have metal springs, so the 18K gold is very close to 61.7 grams. The watch is running strong — Over 12 hours it was with approximately +/- 1 minute. I have tried to take pictures of all the important features. 1893 Elgin National Watch Company, U. 18 size, seven jewels stem wind & set large antique pocket watch in excellent looking and running condition. The movement was professionally serviced recently, runs strong & keeps good time. The serial number on the grade 73 movement is 5366691 which dates it to 1893. The full plate seven jewel movement has a safety pinion and nice engraving on the balance arm. The single sunk porcelain enameled 24 hour dial with roman numerals is in very good condition with some light hairlines, and the deep blued steel hands are in fine condition. The crystal is a brand new G-S high dome acrylic model. The original Keystone Cyclone hinged cover model rolled gold filled case is in excellent condition for its age with light pocket wear, no dents. There are small, faded initials on the back which are not very noticeable looks like B. Please see the picture. The approximate case measurements are 2-1/4 inches in diameter (not including the bow & crown) x 3/4 inch thick including the crystal. The hinges work fine and the covers snap shut tight. The bow and winding crown are in very good condition with light wear. Included with your watch is a modern 12-3/4 inches long gold plated chain with nice large links. This is a nice original early timepiece that is well preserved. Great for everyday use, or would make a fine gift! Also great for Re-enactors. My pictures have many shadows, reflections and dust spots that will be cleaned; the watch looks fine in person! Please note that an antique watch may not be as accurate as a modern watch. The watch is in running condition and as of right now is accurate and running strong. The scalloped case has a few scratches from normal use, and the covers open to 90 degrees, the hinges are rust free and clean. The dial has a hair line crack that runs from the center pinion up between the 11 and 12 o’clock position, otherwise it is in great shape and bright in color. The hands are rust free, and winds and sets with no friction or dragging. The nickel movement is clean with no rust or dirt that I can see, and with a push of the crown, the front cover pops open. The back cover has what I would call a church scene inscribed, and the front cover has no monogram on the shield. The bow is tight, and the crown is in great shape with no wear.
