Pocket Watch Case

Recently I listed a large lot of pocket watches and was asked about this piece over and over again. Though it has ticked sporadically, it is to be considered FOR RESTORATIONS, AS-IS, FOR WATCHMAKER OR COLLECTOR. I can’t tell if the balance is good or not and not sure what the extent is needed to get the watch to function properly. I have been told that the movement significantly predates the case. THIS WATCH LEFT THE FACTORY IN 1860 AND WAS A KEY WIND AND KEY SET POCKET WATCH. THE STORY I WAS TOLD BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER IS THAT AROUND THE TURN OF THE CENTURY Mr. STORY DECIDED THAT HE PREFERED THE NEW KEYLESS WATCHES BUT COULD NOT FIND ONE OF THIS QUALITY SO HE HAD A MASTER WATCH MAKER (not known if it was a Jules Jurgensen watch maker) CONVERT THIS WATCH TO PENDANT WIND AND LEVER SET. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE JOB HE DID AND WAS OBVIOUSLY A VERY TALENTED & SKILLED WATCHMAKER. HE THEN HAD A MASTER JEWELER FILL IN THE TWO WHOLES WHERE THE KEYS WERE INSERTED THROUGH THE DUST COVER TO WIND AND SET THE WATCH. IT IS A NEARLY PERFECT CONVERSION AND MASTERFULLY DONE. THIS WATCH IS NOW STEM WIND AND LEVER SET. IT WINDS AND SETS NICELY. THE ORIGINAL ROSE WOOD BOX IS IN VERY NICE CONDITION, ESPECIALLY FOR BEING 156 YEARS OLD. THE INSIDE LINER IS SIGNED JULES JURGENSEN COPENHAGEN. A HUGE NUMBER 9039 IS STENCILED ON THE BACK OF THE BOX, THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE WATCH. THERE IS A THIN BRASS BAR THAT RUNS ALONG THE FRONT OF THE CASE THAT IS ALSO SIGNED JULES JURGENSEN COPENHAGEN. THE ORIGINAL FACTORY PAPER IS SIGNED JULES JURGENSEN CHRONOMETER and WATCH MAKER. This is to certify that the accompanying Patent Watch No. 9039 has been manufactured in my establishment. Copenhagen, the 12 Jan. 1860 and then signed by Jules Jurgensen. BOTH THE SOLID 18-KARAT GOLD BACK COVER AND INNER DUST COVER HAVE THE SERIAL NUMBER 9039. THE NUMBER IS ALSO SIGNED UNDER THE DIAL. THIS WATCH IS JUST BEAUTIFUL! For sale is a Jules Jergensen Copenhagen Pocket Watch. This is one absolutely stunning pocket watch. This watch has been previously owned, but is running great. We had this watch serviced just before listing the watch. The watch was cleaned and lubricated. All functions are working as intended. This watch is free of any aftermarket engravings. All marks on this watch are those which came from the factory. This watch features a full hunter case composed of 18kt yellow gold. The exterior of the case has the factory machine turned finish though it is slightly faded. The pattern is still clearly visible. The Inside of the back of the case reads: “K18 JJ 11260″ The exterior of the Dust Cover reads: “S 11260 Jules Jurgensen Copenhagen Patent 1867 January 15″ The inside of the dust cover has a black marker writing from the watch maker that serviced this pocket watch. The Movement is the Jules Jurgensen Movement and is also signed and has the matching serial number, 11260. The crystal of this watch is free of any imperfections. The dial of this watch is enameled and is in incredible shape. There are no cracks or imperfections.
