HIGH QUALITY VERGE FUSEE, 1805, PAIR CASE, SMALL SECONDS DIAL & STOP- WATCH FOR DOCTOR. This antique Master Piece has to be seen, and heard and felt in your hands to fully appreciate it. It is absolutely perfect in every way. Even though it is 217 Years old, from 1805! Naturally the BIG and HIGH QUALITY VERGE FUSEE MOVEMENT RUNS STRONGLY. The Watch is oversized at 58 mm and it has two cases. Both inner-& outer Case is Guided on solid Silver. Unusually for the Time of Napoleon, this Pocket Watch is equipped with a small Seconds Hand and Sub-dial at the 6 oClock position. Note that Verge movements have gear ratios that doesn’t allow to just put Seconds Hand on the third wheel. Usually the third wheel doesn’t make one Turn per 60 seconds. It need to make special Effort and Calculations, to make Gears that make one Turn in 60 Seconds. It is very rare to see Second Hand on Verges of this Time! This pocket watch was especially made for a Doctor and it also has a STOP FUNCTION. Possibly many Doctors have inherited this precious and expensive Watch and used it at their services. The Mainspring has been fully wound more than 24 hours ago and it is still running with CA 30minutes late.. This is truely to be expected from a Verge Fusee Watch of that Age! The Large DIAL is in Good Condition. Expert Advice explained that the dial may have been replaced around 1880 with this flat dial. It has Large Roman Numerals. The CONVEX GLASS above it, is also in excellent condition. So is the seconds sub-dial and hand. Just like the finest and hardened Watch Hands. Please examine the Fotos as they are part of the description. On the Guilded Backcover is a ornate engraving what looks like a C T K entwined. The inner and outer Case opens and shuts well. Care is necessary not to touch the little leaver of the Stop watch mechanism on the side of the inner Case. From the inner Case the Mainspring is wound and from the Front at the centre of the Hands the watch is Set for the right time. Yes, the Watch needs very gentle Hands, but than again it has survived perfectly for almost 220 Years. Thank you for watching and looking at my item. Description: 1920s International Watch Co. 900 Coin Silver Probus High Grade Pocket Watch in fancy open face case. Movement serial number #875451. Case serial number #896471. Case features IWC mark, Swiss Bear Hallmarks and German half-moon and crown hallmark, indicating that this Swiss made watch and case was sent to Germany after production. The crown mark was given to both German made silver and silver coming into Germany, so it is unknown if this was marked in advance of export or upon import. Watch is missing regulator spring. Condition: Good condition, ticking, balance is free, movement winds well and hands set well. Hands and dial in good condition with only minor loss of color on hands and light scratching to dial, particularly on sunk second dial. Case is good as well with very minimal wear. Some denting to the bow and some minor tarnishing in cervices of decorative edge. After being set and wound, the watch ran continuously and accurately for over 18 hours despite not having regulator spring. Unless otherwise noted, watches have not been tested for accuracy and are not tested for more than a few minutes. We test the condition of each watch movement by winding it, setting the hands, and observing if it is ticking or not.
