Pocket Watch Case

This is a nice Civil War Waltham model 1857 made in February 1863. It is a keywind and keyset movement in a really nice silver Eagle Waltham case. The watch ticks and runs but will require a service to keep accurate time. The dial is perfect and beautiful. The case has a glass crystal which is likely original because they are almost impossible to find in glass at that size nowadays. The case springs open and closes but the hinge will require adjustment. I only have a universal key set so no key is provided, sorry. Offered is an 18s Elgin pocket watch. The watch is offered as-is, for parts or repair. The good news is that this is an all original watch in beautiful condition with only minor pocket wear – a Gilded Age masterpiece with all detail present. Watch is offered as found, has not been polished or cleaned in decades. The only real problem is that the front cover is broken off near the hinge – the hinge in intact, the metal actually broke. It lines up perfectly, would be an easy fix by any goldsmith; the bow is also missing, as is the crystal. The movement is wound tight, but ticks when shaken – probably just needs cleaned. My best guess is that this has been sitting in a box for over 100 years – it was probably put away when the front cover broke.
