For sale is a Antique 1899 Elgin ladies pocket watch. The Chain has 3 mother of pearl stones. The watch case reads 5386802. On the chain/Fob reads (A&zc 1-10 10kt). The watch is 7 jewel. The watch number is 7976205. The pocket watch keeps good time and runs well. The Size is 6S. I do not see any precious metal markings on the Watch Only on the Fob chain. Here are the specs. George III Silver Pair Cased Pocket Verge Watch By Thomas Taylor With Albert Chain A very handsome and heavy silver pair-cased pocket watch with a silver Albert chain. The watch has a finely pierced watch cock and engraved back plate. It has a verge movement by Thomas Taylor of London. The dial is white with black numerals and golden hands. There are ten service slips stored in the rear of the outer case dating from the late 1800s. The watch is fully hallmarked on the inner case for Birmingham 1808 and with a makers mark of WR. The outer case has the same hallmarks. It comes with a silver Albert chain with the watch key and a George III coin attached. The silver chain is marked but not dated and is probably later than the watch. Dimensions The outer case has a diameter of 2 ¼ inches (5.7cm) and a depth of ¾ of an inch (2cm). The diameter of the watch is 2 inches (5cm). The chain measures 16 inches (41cm). The total weight of the chain and watch are 197g. Condition The watch is in very good condition for its age. Both the inner and outer case are slightly worn as to be expected but are free from dents. The dial has some hairline cracks and a small chip. The crystal is quite worn but free from chips and cracks. The watch runs smoothly when placed on its back or front but stops when stood upright so it will need a service. 50mm (5cm) across case without crown. A stunning gold filled full hunter. The case is a Dennison STAR 10 year guaranteed (from date of manufacture) each part is made from 2 plates of gold with a plate of composition between them, vastly superior to electroplating which only deposits a very thin layer of gold. Good condition case, very clean and bright throughout, all hinges are good, all covers open and close well. Front cover pops open with a depression of the crown, as it should. Front and rear covers open to 90 degrees. Fantastic condition case, No major scratches, some slight mottle colouring inside the case covers (does not look bad). The double sunk dial is bright and clean, no hairline cracks or chips, signed “Waltham”. Roman Numerals, blued steel hands. The movement is a Waltham 17 Jewel model 1899 P. Bartlett dating to 1903, damascened, gold adjuster star, running well and keeps good time. Good acrylic crystal in great condition. Complete with antique rolled gold graduated Albert chain. Presented in a fitted velvet pocket watch box and velvet pouch for chain. Great for wedding, graduation, retirement, Christmas, Fathers day or birthday present. Recently Fully Serviced, including modern alloy “unbreakable” mainspring. Servicing is defined as the piece being disassembled, cleaned, inspected and adjusted if necessary. It is then re-assembled and correctly oiled, timed for accuracy and adjusted if required. The mainspring will be replaced with a modern alloy type and the piece will be bench-tested for at least one day. I restore all of my watches to a fully working condition.
