This is an excellent pocket watch from an estate collection. It is 16 size, open face, stem wind, lever set, 23 jewels, 60 hours, marked 163. Movement #5334499 date from 1930. It runs strong and keeps time. I have not had it serviced, so I cannot guarantee it to be perfectly reliable timekeeper. The plates are superb. They are scratch free, and do not suffer from abuse or overcleaning. Much nicer that usual! The yellow gold filled case is a marked Bunn Special model 29. It is very nice, with no dents, brassing, or engraving. The porcelain double-sunk dial is also very nice. When I hold it to the light I can see one fine, very faint hairline by the 1 on the top track. It is not readily noticeable and difficult to see. Otherwise, no chips, damage, or hairlines on this wonderful dial. Nice blued steel railroad hands, excellent glass crystal. A fine example of a scarce model 163 Illinois railroad. Bunn Special 2-Tone HC. 18 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Bunn Special pocket watch movement/dial/hands. Very nicely finished high grade movement with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, and a 2-tone gold circular damaskeen pattern. This example is currently in need of some attention but is a great candidate for restoration as its movement 2-tone color remains beautiful. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel Gothic numeral dial. Serial number is 1356953. Mainspring seems likely broken of slipped, and balance is gummy. Very nice looking movement overall with superb 2-tone color, though the regulator assembly and the visible movement screw heads have oxide. One case screw is missing. Dial is beautiful with just a few very mild flaws – a small flake tight to the left edge of the center section, an extremely faint hairline above the seconds-register, and a few scattered small surface scratches or nicks. This watch is a very large mens 18 size housed in a silver (nickel) open face display case. This watch is a true rarity as it is a private label piece marked The Railroader 17 Jewel Bunn. This piece is interesting as it should be the last of a run of 16 Jewel Bunns but is marked 17 Jewels. This makes this piece one of the very first 17 Jewel Bunns made as they were moving from 15 and 16 jewel to Bunns to 17 jewel Bunns at this point. Very few of these The Railroader pieces were made. One more element that makes this even more collectible is that it is two tone! What a watch, hard to find another Bunn this rare or should I say scarce. An awesome Bunn to add to your collection. The movement is in great condition as you can see. The Bunn grade is very sought after and was one of the highest grades of watches on offer from the Illinois Watch Company at the time. The watch is privately labelled to S. The watch has Ruby jewels in screwed down solid gold jewel settings and has solid gold balance screws. It also has gold inlaid engraving which is all still intact and in fantastic condition; and check out that incredibly detailed two tone damaskeening WOW! This is a railroad grade watch and is adjusted to temperature, positions and isochronism. The movements serial number is 1178400 making it 127 years old. The double sunk dial on this watch is in good presentable condition and is the correct dial for this movement. It has the correctly private labelled dial for S. This dial does have a few small and light hairlines and one chip but still is presentable and great that it is original. The case is a very nice and heavy nickel open face display case. The lids snap on well with no gaps at all as you can see in the photos. The watch is stem wound and the hands are lever set. The hands set very well and the watch currently runs well. A classic high grade railroad pocket watch, made by the Illinois Watch Co. In the very scarce Bunn Special Model. This beautiful watch is an 18 size, Model 6, open face, lever set, fitted with the Gothic Style Railroad Dial and a 21 jewel movement. One of the crown jewels of my collection. An Illinois Bunn Special Type I in superb condition. Rare double sunk porcelain dial marked “23J / 60 HOUR” & “ILLINOIS BUNN SPECIAL” is in exceptional condition. No hairlines, cracks or chips. The blue steel hands are immaculate. Type I movement is stem wind/lever set. The movement is very clean and running. The 14k gold Wadsworth case is marked “Bunn Special Model” and shows very little wear. The movement is marked “Motor Barrell 60″ on the barrel bridge (this is unique to the Type I). 16s measures 51 mm in diameter and weighs in at 3.4 oz. This is an exceptional railroad grade watch. Signature will be required as the value of the watch is such that it shouldn’t be left in a mailbox or on a porch. Please inspect all photographs thoroughly.
