The movement features gold jewel settings, a gold train, and dates to 1931. The double-sunk Montgomery dial is marked: Illinois. The dial is good condition, but there are some faint hairlines in the finish – see photos for condition please. The case is in good condition, there are small areas of wear-through on the bow/crown area, and there are small areas along the edge. Inside the case back is marked: Bunn Special Model Wadsworth Quality 10 Karat Gold Filled Pat’s Pend’g 7550064. The watch is running, and winds/sets properly. T his is the difficult to find 18 size which is also adjusted to 6 positions. Many of the 18 size Bunn Specials for sale do not have a 6 way adjustment. This watch was made in 1904 serial number 1756317. This watch has 21 ruby jewels, a flawless double sunk Signed Illinois dial, the original thick glass crystal, stem wound and lever set, double roller, and adjusted in 6 positions. This watch has been recently cleaned and timed by a professional jeweler and runs perfectly and keep excellent time. The watch has a heavy gold filled B&B case. Here is an excellent example of an Illinois Bunn Special Railroad watch from 1916. This is one a 23 Jewel high end model 9. One of the Americana timepieces that kept the railroads on time. It is a 16 size Illinois Bunn Special and has 6 position + temperature correction. This watch has one of the highest grade railroad watches made back in the early 1900′s. This Illinois Bunn Special is 23 jewel and has 6 position adjustments and temperature corrected. This watch does run but will probably need a clean & oil service. The Fahys Montauk 10k gold filled case is clean. It measures 49.0 mm wide. The case is very nice especially for being 102 years old. Really no brassing on this Fahys case. The SIGNED movement is a beauty. Wonderful damaskeening and has gold jewel setting and screwed chatons. Has a fancy Reed regulator and of course is lever set. The serial # 2,980,189 dates this Illinois Bunn Special to 1916. The SIGNED dial is a has LARGE BOLD Arabic hour markers. Simple matching blued hands and a clean crystal. The screw off case back has some minor thread issues and can be difficult to open. I have no service records for this 100+ year old Illinois Bunn Bunn Special 23 Jewel 6 Adj. Offered is an Illinois Bunn Special hunter as shown. The heavy case shows tiny brass areas on high points. All covers have tight hinges, none opening past 90 degrees. The dial has an edge flake and associated hairline as shown, not too noticeable with bezel in place. Movement sparkles, big ruby jewels reflect in gold settings, and runs with good motion. Gold portions are a somewhat washed out, and winding is rough – probably needs greased at least. Has not been timed for accuracy or duration. A very collectible watch.
