Crown and Stem Winds, Lever Sets and Running nicely with great accuracy, it was service 6/17/2020. The Spotless Double Sunk Dial is mint condition signed WALTHAM with Big Arabic Numerals and second hand at the 6 position. The hand looks good the minuet and second hands showing little scratches. Crystal looks clear with some pocket scratches. The Stellar Case with gorges Ornate engraving back cover, there are no dings, or dents, just faint pocket scratches, the bow and crown looks excellent and the bow is nice and firm. A very interesting and most important leather outer case in great condition. Gilt pair case watch. Verge, fusee movement tulip pillars. With a great silver key with stone set in it. T he has leather covered on the back and front bezel with a very good colour, all the pins are in place on the back and front. (my photographs do not do it justice). Size of the outer leather case is 55 m. M, with a very nice clean watchmakers paper so nice to have and rounds this fine watch off. Clip may need adjusting. The size of the pinchbeck gilt case with then watch is 45 m. In very nice condition, and so very nice to see how well this watch was looked after as the stem has never had to be repaired and still turns. Are very fine beetle and poker hands that look original. DIAL white enamel is fine condition, note mark at 30 is the clip to lift the movement. The glass is very high domed bull nose mineral with a small chip on the side at 9. The fire gilt movement look just like the day it left the work shop. The watch runs well with a variation of C 2-3 minuets per hour. With a very fine engraved back plate with a decorated and engraved broad balance cock, a silver Tompion regulator. Signed on the back plate. With magnificent Tulip pillars. The case is marked Philadelphia 20 years and case has virtually no wear. All the engraving is still nice and crisp. Crystal is very nice with no scratches. Hands are nice with no rust. It has a beautiful double sunk dial which has no hairlines but there is a flea bite nick above the 12 which is covered by bezel. Serial number is 8401902 which dates to 1899. It has a diamond end stone and a gold train. It winds and sets and keeps time but I have no service record so it should be serviced. I wound up the watch and after 24 hours with the face of the watch up it was 30 seconds fast. This is one of Elgin? S best railroad watches and is in close to mint condition. It will be a long time before you get another chance to own a beautiful watch like this!!! Up for sale is a beautiful silver pair case verge fusee antique doctor’s pocket watch, circa 1781. The watch has just been cleaned and serviced and the movement is in perfect working condition. It runs to the end of the fusee chain in all positions very smoothly and keeps very good time. The beautiful fire gilt movement is signed. Three arm steel balance. Beautiful engraved top plate and balance cock. The lever for the stop watch is missing. Other than that, the movement is in wonderful condition. Is very well listed in all the reference books. For a good example you can look at: Brian Loomes, Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World, Complete 21st Century Edition, p. He has watches and clocks on display in several collections. Silver inner case in very good condition. Hallmarked for London 1781. The case is also marked with the case makers initials – J. Plain silver original outer case with matching hallmarks as the inner case: London 1781, and the same case makers initials. Interesting doctor’s dial. On the upper center side is a small sector for the time. And a large center seconds hand. White, early original signed enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic outside numerals for the seconds. The dial is signed Joseph Denton, Hull. It is a large and heavy silver pair case pocket watch. The silver inner case is 46 mm wide and the silver outer case is 55 mm. The watch weighs 128 grams. As you can see from the pictures, it is a lovely and spectacular watch in an amazing condition.
