The watch has some unique factory features. The model 2 Hamilton case is in perfect condition, and has the factory engraved back with monogram, a very uncommon case! The case shows no wear, brass or dents, and is in 10k rose- gold fill. The bow has no wear and holds firm. The winding crown is crisp showing no wear at all. The bezel and back cover screw on and off correctly and fit tight. The glass crystal is very nice, with no scratches. The Hamilton enamel, bold numeral boxcar dial is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or hairlines. The blue steel hands are excellent as well. The uncommon dial is an interesting factory variation, as it has the arrows out at each hour chapter. Very few of these dials were produced! The 21 jewel Elinvar movement is very beautiful, it is clean and bright, with no spotting or rust. The movement winds smoothly and sets properly, running with a strong smooth motion of the balance wheel and is keeping time! This 992E movement is from the 2nd run production 1930-35. With approximately 60,000 total Elinvars produced! A true one star rated and very beautiful and pristine timepiece. I would rate this watch G-7+ near mint to mint condition. Up for sale is a beautiful 1923 Hamilton 992E 16 size 21 Jewel Railroad Grade Pocket Watch in a fabulous Model 2 Bar over Crown Gold Filled Case. This watch has been fully serviced. Cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner and oiled. It is keeping near perfect time, within a minute per 24 hours. It is a Model 1 with the narrow lines on the movement. Serial # 1716089 dates this movement to around 1923. What makes this movement particularly special is it was produced 7 or 8 years before Hamilton started making the 992′s with the Elinvar hairspring. It was likely sent back in to the factory at some point to be repaired or serviced and was converted at that time. The pallet bridge is marked Elivar and it does have the metallic color hairspring which would indicate that it was added just after they were produced. The earliest Elivar hairsprings were metallic in color but were soon after switched to blue. The dial is a virtually mint porcelain double sunk “Blindman’s” Montgomery dial. There are no hairlines or damage at all. Stunningly clean and beautiful. The steel blue hands are also exceptionally clean. This watch is cased in a sparkling Model 2 Bar over Crown Wadsworth 10 Gold Filled Case. The crown is marked Hamilton Railroad. It is in exquisite condition. There is no brass showing anywhere on the case. No dings or dents on the edges and the bow is nice and stiff. The back cover does have one virtually undetectable indentation and just the slightest amount of pocket wear to the pickiest eye but that is it for imperfections. It really is about as nice as they come. If you would like your package to be insured please request before paying and I will add it to your invoice.
