Up for sale is this gorgeous antique. Elgin National Watch Co hunter case pocket watch. Case made of coin silver by Dueber. Marked on all three covers: dial and two movement covers. Case number is 207978, movement number – 3448252 which is according to archive – 1889. Movement is seven (7) jewels size 18. Runs great, probably needs some adjustment. There is a tiny almost invisible hairline crack on the face enamel at hour 7. And tiny little chip between hour 6 and 7 marks. Remnants of engraving on front (no mono) and back. Diameter of the watch without winding tart – 58mm. Diameter of the face is 46mm. Total weight – 167.8 grams! Pendant Wind, Lever Set. WWII Elgin Railroad Grade 478 B. Raymond 16S 21J Jewel Pocket Watch with a Custom Navy Case. This a very unique U. Navy presentation pocket watch. This watch had to be special as Elgin was supplying watches to government contracts for the war effort. I have not seen one before like it and probably never will. It looks like it was put away and not used much. It is in excellent original condition for the age. Just light normal wear. Silveroid and Gold Filled. It has a raised Navy Fouled Anchor on the back case cover. Covers screw on nicely. The back cover does stick sometimes at the very end of opening it and you have to give it a little lift with your finger nail. It may have a small bur on the thread. The dial has a couple faint hairlines. The close up photos and lighting gave them a blue tint but you can hardly see them with the eye. The crystal has light surface scratches. It is running strong and keeping good time. I do not know the service history so I can’t guarantee to continued accuracy. I would have this special watch serviced as a baseline. It is very clean, has very nice shine, has no signs of plating loss or brassing, dial shows light soiling and patina, and movement shows little tarnish. An overall very nice example. Engraving on the back is fully marked as a 25 year service award to an employee of Harrison Radiator Division, which was a part of General Motors automobiles at the time. It is marked on the inside of the case cover HAMILTON WATCH COMPANY LANCASTER, PA WADSWORTH 14K GOLD FILLED H361920 and marked on the dial HAMILTON.
