Pocket Watch Case

Illinois 18S, 17J, Two Tone RR Grade Hunting Case Pocket Watch. This antique Illinois pocket watch is 18 size (case diameter 55 mm). The case is Keystone gold filled with some wear to the engraving but no brass except on the coin edge, and only one tiny little bruise. The case opens correctly although the lift spring doesn’t open the cover quite all the way. The original double sunk dial is excellent! No hairlines or chips, and note the matching hands. The lever set movement is two tone, 17 jewels, and marked adjusted. This movement was railroad grade when made in 1896. Movement is excellent although the gilt is somewhat faint, but not as faint as the image would suggest. This watch runs and keeps reasonable time, but I do not know the history of this watch, so it may need to be serviced. Sorry, this is NOT a “Make Offer” listing. THIS IS SILVER PAIR CASE POCKET WATCH. THE OUTER CASE IS NOW MISSING. IT IS HALLMARKED ON THE INSIDE OF THE CASE WITH THE LIONS HEAD, THE LION PASSANT, THEN THE LETTER’a’ FOR THE YEAR 1816. IT IS ALSO SIGNED WITH MAKERS MARK J. IT IS SIGNED ON THE MOVEMENT GR 1847. THESE HAVE BEEN SCRATCHED OVER AT SOME POINT TO MAKE THEM MORE VISABLE, I DONT KNOW WHY. THE SILVER CASE IS IN GOOD CONDITION, WITH JUST MINOR WEAR. THE DIAL HAS NO REAL HAIRLINES JUST MINOR WEAR. THE HOUR HAND HAS BEEN OVER PAINTED WITH BLACK PAINT. THE BEVELED GLASS IS QUITE CLEAN. THE WATCH IS IN WANT TO GO CONDITION, IT WINDS TO A FULL, AND RUNS FOR SOME MINUTES, BUT STOPS AND STARTS, SO WOULD NEED A SERVICE. IT IS 50MM ACROSS THE CASE, BY 15MM IN DEPTH.
