It is all original except for the case and has a lovely high grade movement which is in excellent condition! Movement : This watch runs well and keeps very good time. The beautiful original Rail Road grade movement is lever set and has 21 jewels , adjusted to 5 positions. It has lovely ruby jewels, gold screw settings, and gold balance weights! It is really beautiful and is in excellent condition! Dial : The double sunk dial is the original and is in very good condition with just a small crack at the 7. Case : The very nice gold filled Fahy’s Montauk case is in very good condition but is not the original. The lids screw on and off as they should, though they are a little stiff. The movement is perfect – recently serviced – works perfect. The dial is 3 colours enamel /porcelain/. Yellow and white with balck numerals. The dial is almost perfect – except a crack on the edge near 7-8. It is just under the front glass rim and it is not easy noticeable. No visible hairs accross the dial , it has nice and fresh colors and. Silver marks not found but was tested. The inner cover is base metal , the bowl is probably steel. Beautiful case with engraved back and front rims. Also fine engraved back with empty shield in the center. The case is in Perfect condition. The engraving is sharp. Minimal wear for its age. MUSEUM SILVER & SHELL PAIR CASED VERGE FUSEE CHAIN DRIVEN POCKET WATCH WORKING. Antique Circa 1770 silver and shell pair cased Verge fusee pocket watch in good working order. The dial is white enamel with black Roman numerals and gold coloured fancy hands. The movement is a chain driven fusee with Verge escapement Fire gilt and silver plates with fancy round pillars and set with coloured gems, pierced silver decorated cock depicting the crucifixion over a plain steel balance with Tompion type regulator. The watch winds strongly, sets and runs for over 24 hours and is in good working order running the full length of its chain keeping good time for a verge of this age. It has a good swinging balance and good chain. The watch case is marked to the inside with the number 14060 L. It is key wind and set. The dial and dial glass are clean and clear and free from any chips or cracks. Both cases are clean and bright and have worn as to their age with all the covers closing nice and tight. Please note there is a part of the shell missing from its pair case. The watch measures 54mm excluding crown and its pair case a big chunky 61mm. The movement measures 1 5/8″, the of the case size except crown is 2″. The exterior case is marked as follows: “17527″ & “H with a sideways F” I believe this is a hallmark for. Hugenin Freres, the interior case is marked : 0.800, crescent moon with crown, stamped grouse, HF hallmark again, 17527, as well as a hand etched “6532″.
