Antique Hamilton Engineer Corps U. 690 on its enamel double recessed dial in excellent condition but with hairline under the no. Lever set mechanism works Lever by the red number 5. Yellowed plastic crystal detracts from its appearance. Bezel snaps closed properly; good hinge. Excellent yellow gold filled case has two small dings on bezel in area below the second bit. Back of case is outstanding. 1298477 dates this to about 1915. YGF case is Hamilton 25 year no. Winds “forever” so I assume it needs a new mainspring. Movement Size 16, 21 jewels. Case diameter is approx. 49 mm, excluding crown/bow assembly. No photo of movement because it does not swing out easily and I’m not about to force it. Maybe stem needs to be removed before it swings out – just a guess, I’m not a watchmaker. Registration may be required for some countries. Four photos just added show movement; Adjusted to five positions; model 992. Beautiful movement with balance moving freely. Hamilton 25 year case. That one had a good mainspring; it was in a base metal Keystone case; this is in a 25 year Hamilton yellow gold filled case. See my current auctions for some unusual watches. Marsh circa 1783 pair case Crown wheel verge fusee. Great painted dial, completely original, from estate, No Reserve. You have to love this beautiful watch, circa 1783 completely original movement, case, dial, hands and crystal. The watch measures 51 mm in diameter and the case has the London date letter “h” for the years 1783 and case makers mark “I D” for John Dimsdale, Goswell Street. The pair case is in excellent condition with originals owners initials on back. It is untouched and has old watch paper for a Horsham watchmaker inside the back cover. The dial is spectacular, painted scene of shepherd courting on the right with musician holding bagpipes on the left of the dial. The dial has the original beetle/poker hands and nice bulls eye crystal. The movement, a nice crown wheel verge escapement signed Marsh 695. The watch movement is intact, I don’t see any pivot/wheel damage in the train. The balance wheel moves freely and watch tries to run although dirty. The chain is intact and you can wind the fusee wheel. The set up for tension on the fusee chain is an early type with the worm wheel under the mainspring barrel. This should be a nice spectacular piece once restored/serviced by a qualified watchmaker. It’s a great example of a complete original investment quality 18th century English watch.
