The camera cannot capture the beauty of this early Hamilton 950 R. Grade pocket watch that is in a beautiful 14K Solid Gold open face case. This is absolute MUST have in your railroad watch collection! The 950s are hard to find! Especially, in this amazing condition! The case does have two separate hallmarks for the 14K solid gold on the inside of case and dust cover (See photos). Both the front and back of the case are hinged to open. All hinges and latches work as they should. The double sunk enamel dial is in near mint condition with no hairlines or chips on the dial. Black bold numbers and Champagne color hands with the perfect glass crystal. This watch is a stem wind and lever set. The lever is located at the “1″. The damskeening on this 23-Jewel movement is just absolutely breathtaking to see in person. This is adjusted for 5 positions. Motor barrel 23 Jewel. This watch has been fully serviced by our Certified Master watchmaker and keeps great time! Our watchmaker was also a railroad watch inspector many years ago and has been certified on regulating the time keeping on these railroad watches within a few seconds a day! Elgin Movement with custom thermal bluing to steelwork. Enamel dial with Arabic numerals. Recased 14k Solid Gold Keystone Hunter case. Total weight of watch: 73.1 grams. MOVEMENT : Dial side up on timegrapher shows watch gaining +8 seconds per day. Regulator in slowest position. Sometimes when winding a little pressure needs to be applied to the crown to fully engage winding. DIAL : Faint hairline near 5. CASE : Band has some small dents, dings, and flat spots. Most noticeable around 1:00. Very small dings on front and rear covers. Rear cover has a very small notch filed into the edge. Very fine scratches on outer and inner surfaces. A few scratches on cuvette. Both covers open to 90 degrees. Tight bow with some wear. CRYSTAL : Good plastic crystal. HANDS : Spot of oxide on tip of minute hand. Ellery Model 1873 Movement. 9k Solid gold Hunter face case with misleading 18 stamp. This one has been tested as 9k. Single Sunk White Enamel Dial with Roman Numerals. Key Wind / Key Set (Includes Key). Total gross weight of the watch is 59.85 grams. When fully wound and placed on a timegrapher in the dial up position for 1 minute it shows the watch gaining approximately +15 seconds per day. Regulator is almost in slowest position. I would recommend having it serviced to improve its accuracy. DIAL: Hairline and edge chip at 5. Small chip in center of seconds register. Some small surface scratches. CASE: Rear cover with crack near hinge. Rear cover does not stay closed. Several small dings to front and rear covers. Fine scratches to exterior. Cuvette with scratches and marring from case knife openings. CRYSTAL: Good glass crystal. HANDS: Some oxide at tip of minute hand. September 1882 – December 1882.
