Georgian Verge watch pair case. Pinchbeck with shell covering. Chunk missing on the back (Pic) but I’ve found a piece that maybe useful (Pic) to use. Piece is thicker but needs cosmetic work to blend it in!!! Aged understandably for over 200 years old!!! Splits and wear but what is good about this case is cover on the bezel which is often missing. Fantastic condition Georgian strong hinge!!! Catch and button present. Pin present ready for a movement. Very nice dark chestnut colour. Glass nice and clear. Aged but still good to use! Vintage Girard Perregaux Skeleton Pocket Watch & Case / 1939 For SHELL OIL!! This listing is for ONE Girrard Perregaux Skeleton Pocket Watch in a case. This Skeleton Pocket Watch was manufactured in 1939 for the Shell Oil Company, and only 30,000 were made. The watches were supposed to be lubricated with Shell Oil, but that didn’t work out so Girrad Perregaux cleaned the original design and used the appropriate lubricants for watches. They were distributed to American Shell Gasoline and Oil Dealers. The case is polished base metal marked “VV Base Metal” and the movement is visible through front and rear crystals. The rear crystal shows the markings Girrard Perregaux & Co. Established 1791″ There is a notation that says “Special” another that says “7 seven jewels. The large gear has “SHELL” on it. The face of the watch has a black border with Roman Numerals and there is a smaller dial for seconds which is bordered in black as well. Please examine the photos carefully. There are little scratches & wear on the metal case and crystal from use and time. We do believe the bow is a replacement bow. But we cannot be certain of this. The dial is white enamel with black Roman numerals and gold coloured fancy hands. The movement is a chain driven fusee with Verge escapement Fire gilt and silver plates with fancy round pillars and set with coloured gems, pierced silver decorated cock depicting the crucifixion over a plain steel balance with Tompion type regulator. The watch winds strongly, sets and runs for over 24 hours and is in good working order running the full length of its chain keeping good time for a verge of this age. It has a good swinging balance and good chain. The watch case is marked to the inside with the number 14060 L. It is key wind and set. The dial and dial glass are clean and clear and free from any chips or cracks. Both cases are clean and bright and have worn as to their age with all the covers closing nice and tight. Please note there is a part of the shell missing from its pair case. The watch measures 54mm excluding crown and its pair case a big chunky 61mm. We only sell 100% AUTHENTIC items. We are offering this amazing Verge Fusee Pair Case Pocket Watch circa 1730-50 which means it is 250+years old. It is a timepiece that if you are an ancient watch lover that you shouldnt pass up since it comes with all of the goodies: Running Verge Fusee movement with good chain, skeletonized balance cock cover and parts of the top plate, Tompian regulator, Roman/Greco pillars, and last but not least a beautiful outer tortoise shell. Even after two and half centuries the tortoise shell is in great condition with just a section that has gone cracked and missing as well as having some fracture lines. Generally speaking this is still a very presentable outer case in near complete condition. The center back section is near flawless with only damages to the edges. The outer case measures 47.5mm and has old watch papers lining inside. All of the bells and whistles of an antique pocket watch is there, poker & beetle hands, bulls eye crystal, and a complete verge fusee movement. The watch itself likewise is also in very presentable condition, it runs quite well that only a few rounds of winding it ticks quite nicely. The original enamel dial has chip to 25 min mark and hs some outer hairlines, but overall it is in near complete condition. The gold gilding on the cases is generally intact with exception to the pendant part of the outer case. The inner case gold gilding is nearly fully intact and shines beautifully. Even the bulls eye crystal appears to be original. Inner case is 39.5mm in diameter.
