Underpainted horn & gilt pair cases, 49 mm. A mid 18th century London verge, in a finely underpainted pair case. MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, the engraved and pierced balance cock with an engraved bird to the neck. Four square baluster pillars, silver regulator disk and blued screws. Running well, and in good condition. Abchurch and numbered 4488. DIAL : A fine white enamel dial, in excellent condition, with just a few light surface scratches. Later blued steel hands. INNER CASE : Gilt brass. In good condition, though there is wear to the gilding, especially on the bezel, stem and bow. The stem has been reattached. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome bulls eye crystal is fine. OUTER CASE : Underpainted horn covering the gilt brass pair case. The painting shows butterflies on a seaweed background. Again in good condition. The catch is complete and the case snaps shut correctly, though the catch button is worn. The horn is in good condition with no cracks to the back and just one to the bezel. There is only one pin missing on the back and seven from the bezel. Unusual English verge in underpainted horn gilt pair cases open face antique pocket watch. Full plate fire gilt movement with baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved cock , silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm , and wheel barrel set up between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance , blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman numerals in the inner chapters for hours and Arabic numerals in the outer chapters for minutes , fine gold hands. Gilt outer covered in translucent horn underpainted with a scene of fern , birds , and butterfly. The outer case also decorated with gilt pique pins. Key wind , key – set. To wind the watch turn the key about 11 times counter clockwise. The movement is signed. William Mloon London AD 1800. Ultimate choice underpainted antique pocket watch for watch collectors. Very fabulous , and great treasure for someone who is looking for an original master piece of antique. The condition of the watch. The watch is in a good working condition. When it is fully wind it works continuously more than 24 hours but it goes faster by 8 minutes a day. Case : Nice underpainted gilt outer case but it has 2 small defects (have white color) near the edge , one big crack at the pusher, 2 cracks on the top side part of the outer case , and some hairlines at the back of the outer case. Also one pique pin above the hinge is missing. Please check all the pictures. Crystal :Very marvelous high dome shaped crystal but it has some hairlines , small scratches, and small dots. Dial : Beautiful porcelain dial but it has some hairlines and very few and light dots. Hands : two gold hands and they are the original hands of the watch. The inner case , and the outer case can be closed properly and very tight without any problem. All the parts of the watch are the original parts and no modified parts. Gilt outer covered in translucent horn underpainted lady in costume, Vase and Plinth, Flora. The underpainted horn in a reasonable condition there is discoloration and split, the case is not a perfect fit around the top but it will close. Georgian Verge watch outer case. Pinchbeck with shell covering or underpainted? Aged understandably for over 200 years old!!! THE CASE MEASURES 50MM IN DIAMETER MADE OF BRASS WITH GOLD GILT, HORN AND SMALL DECORATIVE PINS THAT ATTACH THE HORN TO THE CASE. THIS IS A UNDERPAINTED HORN CASE, INTERESTING PAINTING OF SERPENT AND THE TREE OF LIFE. THERE IS ALSO A SMALL BUTTERFLY AND FLY PAINTED ON THE EDGE.
