A very interesting and most important MINT MINT watch with outer case made of under painted horn. A verge, fusee movement. MADE BY WILLIAM CLIFTON. Edge to edge, under painted horn was only used on very expensive watches, it has great colour, ALL of the pins are in place. With a nice watchmakers paper. The case is also in mint condition, and thehindge has never been repaired that shows how well it was looked after. Size of the case with the watch is 42 m. All the hinges and clips work well on the cases. The enamel dial is in perfect condition. Very fine original beetle and poker gold hands. The glass is very high clean and clear. Movement looks just like it had just left the work shop in 1790 gilt full plate fusee verge, pierced and engraved balance cock, nice pillars, silver Tompion regulator, signed on the back plate Wm CLIFTON LONDON. The timekeeping is great C aprox + or- 1 to 2 minuets per hour. Just great to have such an amazing and interesting watch that is as good as this one, and it just has every thing one could want on a fine verge watch, very hard to find a watch in this condition with all that it has going for it. This watch is so very well priced, and well presented. An absolute must for any serious collector or would make a wonderful present. Rare Pair Cased Verge Fusee Pocket Watch with superb painted dial. Recently professionally serviced and in great working condition! Runs very well in time (only about 3 minutes deviation per 24 hours run time). The gold gilded movement shines like new, signed “Charles Stapleton Liverpool” and bears the serial number 9136. Beautifully engraved movement and coq. Nice original solid gold hands. All covers close with a tight fit as it should. Enamel hand painted dial looks great! The original bulls eye glass is in good condition but appears to have some small scrathes. English hallmarks in both cases for Birmingham 1811. Both cases are hand polished and look great. Beautiful verge fusee watch from French Regency Epoch, circa 1720s-1730s. Very rare porcelain (over brass base) case, really hard to find. It’s decorated with painting of allegory of love on the back side – cherub in carriage driven by doves. The inner side of back cover and front cover are decorated with painted flowers. Movement is signed by Baillon a Paris. Baillon – is well known French watchmaking dynasty, known from mid-XVII. Probably, production of Etienne Baillon, installed in Paris from 1704 (died 1748). Beautiful porcelain dial with bold numbers, beetle and pocker hands – it looks a little “British”. Movement is very nice, with big balance bridges of typical French Regency style. This early movement features barrel with worm, square baluster pillars and almost none escapement regulations. After Julien Le Roy inventions of mid XVIII, these was features are impossible to find in French movements. The movement is in good working condition – works in every position. The porcelain of case has cracks and couple of minor reparation to the border. The dial has hairlines and reparation near winding hole. Diameter of outer case is 50mm, inner is 55mm.
