The minute hand still makes it around the dial in one hour, so the ratio of the minute hand to the hour hand is modified using a different minute wheel and hour wheel ratio. This is such a rare and awesome example of American made enameling art at its best. Both the front and back covers are enameled with radiating panels of alternating black and navy-colored enamel scenes. Besides the fact that multiple panels of enameling is extremely rare, navy-colored enamel on American made cases is superbly rare as well. Both covers are also adorned with a complete scene of sea-related subjects such as on the front side it has a lighthouse and sailboat and on the back side it has a boat anchor drawn on the ivory background. Both scenes of enameling are expertly painted with extremely fine details. Besides the full panels, all around the case there is also filler enamel done in black. The case is just a marvel with scalloped edges. Inside the watch it houses a high grade Amn grade model 1873 movement. Overall it’s just a super rare watch with top notch features all around. Condition-wise this watch runs great but it has not been serviced so we cannot guarantee timekeeping accuracy. Cosmetically the dial is in mint condition, the enameling is also in mint condition that even the filler sections are all complete. This is a super example of the finest American enameling and case-making, along with the high grade movement it’s just a wonderful watch to own.
