Circa 1901 based on the serial number. The watch case measures approx. 41.2mm in diameter. Size 6 or 6s. The white enamel dial is stamped AMERICAN WALTHAM and is in excellent shape. Brand new crystal (not shown in the photos). The original gold filled hunting case is in very good condition. Both lids open and close properly. Nice floral and scroll etching to both sides with inlaid green, yellow, rose , and white gold. I did acid test the case and it appears to be gold filled while the N and Cartouche test for 14K GOLD The inner rear cover is stamped WARRANTED PERMANENTLY 932493 The movement is stamped 11068xxx ADJUSTED A. RARE– 1937 HAMILTON 992 ELVINAR-16 SIZE-21 JEWEL–14K GREEN GOLD FILLED CASE. Thank you for considering our 1937 HAMILTON 992 ELVINAR-16 SIZE-21 JEWEL–14K GREEN GOLD FILLED CASE. IN STUNNING CONDITION, NICE MONTGOMERY DIAL–GORGEOUS Case model #2 BAR OVER CROWN CASE. A clean and super accurate running condition Hamilton railroad grade 992E Elvinar movement, 16 size, 21 jewels, adjusted to temperature, Isochronism, and 5 positions, double roller, cupped gold jewel settings, gold train, sapphire pallets, stem wind, lever set railroad-grade beauty. Serial number of 2614589 dates this watch to 1937. This excellent Hamilton 992 movement is in top-notch working order, with a dead flat and true balance wheel motion that has a fine, wide arc and strong, steady beat. The movement is a smooth wind, starts right up on the 3rd wind and lever sets as designed. The movement holds time well within the railroad requirement of 30 seconds per week. Appearance wise, this movement is looking great, with no tarnish, no stains or jeweler’s marks and is one of the cleanest movements I have ever seen. The movement was found to have very minor and ordinary wear with no signs of abuse upon inspection, maintenance and servicing. Watch was serviced March 2016. This is a truly rare, high grade roaring classic that you will be proud to own. The Wadsworth 14K green gold filled case is in near mint condition with absolutely no sign of brassing. There are no dents, dings or depressions and he boasts a nice mirror finish with hardly a scratch. This was a real nice find and must have sat in a drawer for a good portion of it’s life.
