Circa : 1770 , it has 249 years old (almost two & half centuries). Weight : 106.6 9. White porcelain dial with Roman numerals for hours , Arabic numbers for minutes , and beautiful hands. Gilt metal pair cases , the outer covered in blond tortoise shell decorated with gilt pique pins. The watch is key wind , key – set. Swinging out movement that has engraved cock and lovely regulator disc. The movement is signed : John Moore New Castle. The doccumentation paper says. WATCH AND CLOCK MAKER. White – cliff street. The condition of the watch. I had this watch since long time ago. It use to work perfectly until few month ago the chain came out from it’s place (but it is not broken) and the watch stopped. All the parts of the watch are in excellent condition , and nothing is missing except that the chain needs to be reset back in it’s place. The watch has beautiful white porcelain dial it is just has one hairline near the center of the watch. Very clear crystal without any hairlines , no scratches. The tortoiseshell (outer case) is very fabulous it is just has tiny hairlines on the back but no cracks , no dents. The inner case and the outer case close very tight The watch looks very antique and superb. The watch that you will receive will be the same one as indicated in the pictures and the video so the pictures , and the video considered as part of my description. Up for sale is a rare English verge Fusee key wind pocket watch. It was made in 1746 and the watch is all original. It measures 56 mm in diameter and has a really beautiful high quality movement. This case has the original enamel back and this watch has a working calendar function. Serviced : This movement was fully serviced on 06-14-19. All parts were removed, cleaned, oiled, and watch was adjusted. This movement is in amazing condition inside and outside. Antique solid silver pair cased with matching hallmarks (hard to see on inner case) dated c 1779? With a silversmiths initials W L its verge fusee movement is signed N Giles numbered 20672 watch that is all in as found unpolished condition. As can be seen in the photos the balance wheel and retaining cock are missing the bull nose glass is worn , the outer case has its locking clip missing and the inner case needs a repair to its opening hinge. It measures 59 mms approx across the outer case. A fabulous antique pocket watch worth restoration? Or just for spares? Sorry i do not post to PO Boxes. This interesting and very early example of an English Fusee bears hallmarks for Chester c. 1821-22, unsigned movement but believed to be a Liverpool work, case maker’s marking E. , very attractive and deep floral engraving to the balance cock, key winding and setting with key included, movement has its roller with passing flat and not crescent, and both banking pins on the same side of the lever. This would be an excellent opportunity for a watchmaker to overhaul and end up with 200 year old rarity. The English, plain, 18 carat gold case is hallmarked with the maker’s mark “JR” for Rotherham & Sons (John Rotherham), the “crown and “18″ for 18 carat gold, the anchor Birmingham town mark and date letter “c for 1902/03. The inner cuvette similarly marked. The English Lever movement is signed by the maker “Rotherhams, London” and serial number 244430. The watch is stem wound and pin set. The white enamel dial is in good overall condition, however does have some faint hairlines. It has the hours in roman numerals and is signed by the maker. The watch measures 51mm in diameter (across the case). The weight is 112.1g. The inner cuvette (dust cover) bears an interesting presentation inscription, the watch presented to a Civil Engineer. Presented to R W Newman Esq. E by Paarl Inhabitants to commemorate his erection of Huguenot Bridge, August 1st 1905.
