Sharp Solid sterling silver case is Silver hall marked (a) 1798 of Birmingham assay. Beautiful Outstanding mint condition white colored porcelain dial with nice Bold Black numbers and Beautiful large thick light Gold hands. The dial shows no chips or hairlines at all and is truly beautiful. Absolutely spotless high domed bullseye crystal. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with nice and tight hinges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has nice motion. The balance bridge is beautiful With its unique Urn and ornate scroll work. The movement is near mint with sharp blue screws and a Spotless silver disked index for regulating. Pocket watch measures a nice large 56mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked it was running +/- 2 minutes within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. But cannot guarantee accuracy upon sale. These watches are verge type. Meant to keep time, not perfect time 219 years ago. Up for sale is a beautiful and rare English verge fusee gilt repousse pair case antique pocket watch, circa 1745. The watch has not been cleaned and serviced but the movement is in good working condition. It runs to the end of the fusee chain very smoothly and keeps very good time. 90 minutes fast for 24 hours – very good time keeping for an early verge like this. The movement: Three arm gilt balance. Beautiful engraved top plate and balance cock. Very rare and interesting square pillars. The beautiful fire gilt movement is signed. Is one of the very good English watch makes of England in the 18th century. He is well listed in all the reference books. For a good example you can look at: G. Baillie, Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World, Vol. The inner case: Gilt, very nice condition. The outer case: Gilt repousse. Beautiful work, very good condition, no dents at all.
