This is a very cool and hard to find “Space age” Novelty pocket watch, its similar to the Dan Dare Novelty watch but this version which I think is called either “From outer Space” or “Lost in Space” is really difficult to find in good original working condition like this. It has turned up in a local estate and has sat in an old draw within its original stand for possibly the last 5 decades if not longer, the overall condition is just remarkable and its clearly been well looked after and away from sun light, I do not know what they sell for and its the first we have found with the original Cream painted stand / clock conversion case and its just such a great example, because they are very cheaply made watches and designed to only last a few months an example in this original state is really uncommon. The watch winds very well and hand sets, its also working when wound, I had my watchmaker look at the watch and he said it still retains much of the original finish and has clearly seen little use. The timekeeping was not tested but he suggested that its doing well as set. The case is the classic watch stand 2 part case in its original cream paint, it has a couple very minor chips but its all original which is rather cool looking. The movement is the classic Ingersol type “Made in England” & its working well at present with both the head nod of the astronaut and the revolving star. Just a super looking watch with a great original dial and hands, overall a very nice vintage silver pocket watch. Size: approx 4.8 cm across the watch case. This is a very unusual watch. I really do not know much about this. This was made to show the time on the front dial and the back dial is a timer. The balance swings but this will obviously need some work. The case is solid 18k yellow gold but I do not know the weight. The total weight of the watch is about 80 grams and it is about 45.75mm in diameter. It is missing both crystals. There is a hallmark on the pendant and the bow is obviously not solid gold.
