SUPERB Verge Fusee Pocket Watch with DATE function. Big and heavy model! Recently professionally serviced and in great working condition! Runs the full length of the chain with a hard sounding tick keeping very good verge time (please do not expect quartz time accuracy from a 218 years old pocket watch which are collectors items and not meant to wear). The beautifully engraved and unsigned movement shines like new. All covers close with a tight fit as it should. Enamel dial is in perfect condition. Bulls Eye glass old stock very high domed in very good condition! Both cases have the same English hallmarks that i can not identify. Must be period around 1790 – 1810. Superb original in good condition gold coloured hands! Cases are hand polished and looking great. A superb addition to each valuable collection. A very interesting and most important regulator dial with moon phase, date time, seconds dial, sweep minute hand. And and a stop for the sweep second hand so it would also be a Doctors watch. The inner case with the watch size is 51 m. All the hinges and clips work well on the cases. The enamel dial in very good condition. THE DIAL IS A VERY RARE REGULATOR WITH HOUR, DATE , MOONPHASE, SECONDS DIAL AND SWEEP SECONDS HAND THAT CAN BE STOPPED BY MOVING THE SLIDER AT THE SIDE BY THE NUMBER 45 SO THAT WOULD ALSO MAKE THIS A DOCTORS WATCH. Very fine black hands that are all original. To set the time you turn the sweep hand. The you move the date and moonphase gently moving with your finger. The glass is very high bull nose clean and clear. The fire gilt movement look just like the day it left the work shop. The watch runs well. Time keeping C + or 1 – 2- minuets per hour. With a very very fine decorated and engraved balance cock, a silver Tompion regulator. Signed on the back plate JOHNSON LONDON. The watch will come with a key. The silver case measures 50mm in diameter. What porcelain dial has some hairlines but is in decent shape with some light hairlines and one small edge chip (cannot be seen with bezel on). The dial is stamped. The 900 silver case is stamped. 0,900 (hallmark)(hallmark) 72780. On the inner back cover. Case is in good shape. The movement is signed. SWITZERLAND Continental Watch Co. Stem wind and lever set (lever located at the left of the crown). The watch runs the full length of the mainspring BUT only in the FACE DOWN position. When the watch is turned dial side up, it will run for up to a minute then stop. I checked the balance staff and it looks ok. Maybe the top jewel or the balance pivot is dirty. Either way, it will need some cleaning. The calendar discs to the back are all functioning except for the DAY because of the missing button. Im sure any competent jeweler can fabricate one. The bottom dial is quite unusual. Instead of the typical moonphase discs that you see, this one has a rotating inner disk that shows a moon in its different phases full, crescent, etc. Also, that bottom dial has a nice scene overlooking a bridge with mother of pearl accents.
