It is marked Premier Grade with gold jewel settings. The watch winds very nice and easy. It has a nice locomotive on the rear of the case. Timegrapher shows running Great and just slightly slow and within range for a 121 year old railroad grade watch. Please note that there are minor chips around the upper lid and scratches around crystal and case from use over the years (see pictures). This watch comes from our 40-year collection. The Electric Railway Special was designed for trolley and light-rail drivers who did not require a watch that met the criteria for mainline railroad service. This is a 16-size watch, and measures approximately 50mm (2) diameter. This watch features a gold-filled screw back and bezel case, a 17-jewel adjusted stem-wind stem-set Grade 956 movement, and a single-sunk Montgomery style Electric Railway Special porcelain dial with Arabic numerals. The Elgin yellow gold filled case is in excellent condition, showing signs of normal pocket carry and no visible brassing. The Montgomery dial is in excellent condition, showing a few very minor hairlines not noticeable unless you look very closely. The movement runs and keeps good time. Overall, a presentable watch that is ready to carry with pride or present as a wonderful gift to a person who appreciates fine timepieces.
