Beautiful solid and clean English made by Richard Kember, Oxbridge Serial no. 4178 silver cased verge fusee. Sharp Solid sterling silver case is Silver hall marked (N) 1808 London assay. Beautiful absolutely flawless white colored porcelain dial with big bold clear numbers. This dial has beautiful eye appeal with Sharp matching solid Gold hands. Crystal clear high domed crystal. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together, nice and and tight. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has outstanding motion with a nice strong main spring. The balance bridge has unique and ornate scroll work with a face and knights helmet with flags. The movement is super clean with blue screws and is regulated by a push arrow index. The watch measures approx. 56mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 minute within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. But cannot guarantee accuracy upon sale. These watches are verge type. Meant to keep time, not perfect time 208 years ago. Also special care must be taken not to overwind these old museum pieces. Inside the case is an old watch maker paper from Great Falls New Hampshire. Watch comes with a sharp key for winding. Beautiful white colored porcelain dial with big bold clear numbers. This dial has beautiful eye appeal with just a faint spider line and only one small edge repair near the 3. Sharp matching Gold colored hands. Sharp near spotless high domed bulls eye crystal. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with nice and tight hinges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has outstanding motion with a nice strong main spring. The balance bridge has unique and ornate scroll work as does the right side of the movement. The movement is super clean with blue screws and is regulated by a pointed arrow adjusted by a blue disked regulator. The watch measures approx. 56mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 minute within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. Offered is an 18s Elgin pocket watch. The watch is offered as-is, for parts or repair. The good news is that this is an all original watch in beautiful condition with only minor pocket wear – a Gilded Age masterpiece with all detail present. Watch is offered as found, has not been polished or cleaned in decades. The only real problem is that the front cover is broken off near the hinge – the hinge in intact, the metal actually broke. It lines up perfectly, would be an easy fix by any goldsmith; the bow is also missing, as is the crystal. The movement is wound tight, but ticks when shaken – probably just needs cleaned. My best guess is that this has been sitting in a box for over 100 years – it was probably put away when the front cover broke.
