Howard & Co Boston Pocket Watch that has been in a safety deposit box for the last thirty years. We wound it and it runs well. The 18 size case is Coin Silver with a Box Hinge on top and bottom. It is in excellent condition. The gilt key wind movement is signed E. Howard Boston Reed’s Patent Serial # 14554. Patent July 24, 1866. The enamel dial is signed E. Howard & Co Boston. It has Roman Numerals. Sub Seconds and is Perfect. Weight: 171.8 grams. We would the watch with a universal key and no key is included. SILVER REPOUSSE PAIR CASE VERGE FUSEE POCKET WATCH. Joseph snr was himself apprentice to Thomas Hughes. Joseph jnr’s business was registered at 32 Aldgate, High St, London. A early English pocket watch. In good working order. A fine 18th century English Repousse Silver pair cased verge fusee pocket watch by Joseph Stephens, London. The movement is watch maker signed and serial numbered 2408. The outer Silver Repousse case has a scene depicting four figures with an angel above them, the inner plain polished silver case (housing the movement) is hallmarked London 1783 and case maker stamped IW most likely to be John Wright, Red Lion St, Clerkenwell, London. The movement has round pillars, a finely pierced and engraved balance cock with a large Diamond endstone with engraved foot incorporating a Tompion style disc regulator. It has a chain driven fusee and a verge escapement. The white enamel dial has Black Roman hour numerals, black Arabic minute numerals and beetle & poker hands and it has mineral bullseye glass crystal. The outer case measures 47.5mm (approx 1.9) in diameter, the combined weight including movement is 105 grammes. Condition: Both cases fit well together and are considered to be an original pair. The movement is complete and in strong running order keeping to exceptionally good time for a verge movement of this age. Both case covers open and close correctly with good strong hinges. The dial has no hairlines or chips and the blued beetle and poker hands and bullseye crystal are in good order. Over all good condition commensurate with age. Heavy 18ct Gold English Freesprung Hunting Cased Pocket Watch. Very heavy 18ct gold English free-sprung 3/4 plate fusee hunting cased pocket watch. Signed white enamel dial with roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, and blue steel hands. The movement; 3/4 plate numbered with large diamond end stone. It’s unusually highly jeweled for an English watch. The movement is signed Le Cheminant Wimpole St London. This watchmaker is well known for having made very high quality timepieces including chronometers and deck watches for the Royal Navy. Please see this link for some information on the maker. The movement is a keywind free-sprung fusee. The watch is of a particularly heavy gauge and made by one of England’s finest casemakers of that period Fred Thoms F. T (Frederick Thoms, Clerkenwell). Winding through the gold inner cuvette. The case and movement are all in excellent condition with no dings or dents. The case opens freely and easily with no damage to the hinges, and as expected keeps EXCELLENT time. Weight with the movement removed 81g.
