Pocket Watch Case

(Wis), Marion, United States Watch Co. I only have an old copy of the watch bible. That being said, PLEASE SEND OFFERS. This listing is for a J. Stevens 18 size hunter case pocket watch. Movement made by Aurora. Dial is marked J. Movement is marked J. Stevens and Bro, Atlanta, Ga, 140228. Watch is running and keeping time. Case is 54 mm diameter. The watch is stem wind and lever set. When I say it’s keeping time…. I wound it and let it run for 24 hours or more, mostly face up, but I did make sure it was face down for shorter periods also. I did a rough setting of time, probably within a minute or two, and let it run for 24 hours and it was still within a minute or two. This was rough testing and they were not set to the exact second, so it may be off by 2 seconds a day, maybe 2 minutes a day. All of these pocket watches are in the state I found them. I did not make any effort to lubricate, clean the dial/crystal, polish case, or anything similar. You might see specks of dirt on the dial or crystal. Some have faint hairlines. Some have tiny dings or scratches or tiny chips on the crystal. Please rely on the photos to assess the overall condition. I just recently acquired these 2 days ago and I do not know any service history. That being said, any watch may have possible been lubricated a week ago, or may have never been serviced at all. I simply do not know any history. All cases close properly unless stated otherwise, meaning the covers screw on or snap on well, front covers of hunter case watches close and spring open as they should, etc. Gold filled cases may have minor spots of brassing. Offered for sale is a beautiful, Solid 14KT Gold Hunter Case “Ladies” watch produced by the Waltham Mfg. In the 1890′s. This is the information on the watch based on the Mfg. January 1893 – September 1898. Estimated production date of the movement according to factory records. Hunting: The stem is at the 3:00 position, and the movement is meant to be mounted in a case that has a covering over the face. “Sidewinders” are hunting movements in openface cases. T he watch is in working/running condition it was last serviced/cleaned 2015. The case is solid 14KT gold and the inside of the back case has the case information B W C CO. 14KT serial number 8371200. The enameled face in in very nice condition with no crack lines or chips. The inside of the front cover has an inscription as shown in the pictures and the back cover on the inside has the maker of the case and the fineness of the watch cover as shown in the pictures. The watch movement is described above in detail from the company’s record based on the serial number of the movement. (See pictures for close ups). The watch is in excellent, used condition, with a beautiful design on the front and back of the case. There is a set of initials on the front of the case and an engraved rose on the back side as shown in the pictures. The dark spots are reflections off the dark blue camera. A very interesting and most important silver case watch. With a champleve dial, repousse working on the outer case, with day date SQUARE PILLARS, verge, fusee movement. MADE BY JAMES WHIYE. PLEASE DO TAKE TIME TO READ THE FULL LISTING AND DO ENLARGE THE PHOTOGRAPHS TO GET A BETTER LOOK. The size of the outer silver case is 51 m. With very high relief depicting a classical scene. With a nice watchmakers paper to round it off. Note outer cases were never hallmarked. The inner silver case with the watch size is 42 m. This case is hallmarked London C 1769. That is hard to read. All the hinges work well on the cases. The Champleve dial in very nice condition, with all the gold pip in place, with the makers name WHITE. With date aperture that is working. The dial is very interesting set with a repousse cherub set on a blue back ground. The glass is very high bull nose clean and clear. The fire gilt movement look just like the day it left the work shop. The watch runs well C + or – 2-3 minutes per hour. With a very very fine decorated and engraved balance cock, a silver Tompion regulator SQUARE PILLARS. Signed on the back plate Ja White LONDON. The watch will come with a key.
