16 size 21 jewel open face lever-set Grade 992B pocketwatch. Very nice looking example of this high grade railroad watch fronted by a double-sunk enamel “Hamilton Railway Special” dial and housed in a Hamilton Model 10 Bar-Over-Crown case that is marked “Hamilton Railroad” on the crown. Movement serial number is C34039. Running but balance motion is sluggish and I think likely movement hasn’t seen a cleaning and oiling in some time. Very nice looking movement with excellent color and luster with the exception of the balance cock screw which has surface rust and also a small amount of corrosion on the regulator spring. Dial faces up well but has a small edge chip at the lever-set position. Case is very strong with an excellent in hand look and feel. Excellent triple case pocket watch for ottoman market by George Prior. The outer and inner case are made of silver. Outer case is decorated with engraving in oriental style. The middle case has some silver parts and some brass and is covered by tortoiseshell. Good quality verge fusee movement is signed by Geo Prior and is numbered. Cock is probably decorated with monogram gk? Movement is in good running condition, it runs in all positions, though I don’t guarantee time keeping. Dial seems to be free from defects. Original beetle & poker hands, mineral glass. The cases are as shown – losses of tortoiseshell. The closing springs was repaired, they are loose, but works. The watch is quite big – outer case measures 57mm wide and 62mm high, thickness is 29mm. Overall weight is 150 grams. He received two awards from Society of Arts.
