Antique 1770s Benjamin Barber London Fusse Pocket Watch & Persian Jeweled Case.. The outer case on this 18. Century English Fusse Pocket Watch was made for the Arabic or Persian market. The outer case which is not silver, it was made in the Middle East to hold the 18. Century Silver Fusse Pocket Watch. This case is decorated with thirteen cabochon glass jewelsand on the inside is a piece of paper with Arabic writing. The 2 ½ diameter case still closes, however there is some roughness to the back. Century English Pocket Watch is in very good condition and measures 2 in diameter. It retains its original bubble crystal, enameled face and blue steeled hands. If you look closely you will see that there are Arabic numbers around the outside edge. There also are unusual triangular markings. Some of these are doubled, some are pointing in different directions and there is a large zero where the number five would go. The silver case is clearly hallmarked with the London mark and the date letter 1777. We couldn’t find the exact makers mark, but we believe it was made John Robins. This silver case has a couple of very slight dings, but overall it is in very good original condition. Marked on the inside Ben. Barber London 2303 this 18. Century Fusse Watch was made by Benjamin Barber who was an 18. At first I thought the chain was missing, however I was able to wind this watch and not only is the chain present, but I have been able to keep this watch running for short periods of time. I guarantee with a proper cleaning and a slight adjustment or two this 18. Century Persian Pocket Watch will work once again. The only problem with this watch is a hairline crack on the right hand edge of the face.. There is no reserve on this 18. Offered is an 18s Elgin pocket watch. The watch is offered as-is, for parts or repair. The good news is that this is an all original watch in beautiful condition with only minor pocket wear – a Gilded Age masterpiece with all detail present. Watch is offered as found, has not been polished or cleaned in decades. The only real problem is that the front cover is broken off near the hinge – the hinge in intact, the metal actually broke. It lines up perfectly, would be an easy fix by any goldsmith; the bow is also missing, as is the crystal. The movement is wound tight, but ticks when shaken – probably just needs cleaned. My best guess is that this has been sitting in a box for over 100 years – it was probably put away when the front cover broke. Marked on the inside of the cover, Warranted 14K U. 6192279, this antique Waltham Watch Company Pocket Watch measures 1 7/8 in diameter. This is a hunter cased, solid gold watch hand engraved with floral decorations. There are some tiny dents to the outside rim and some wear in the middle of the back panel.
