Elgin National Watch Co. 6s, grade 95, model 1, 7 jewel pocket watch in very good condition. Serial number 2941633 dates this pocket watch to 1888. Watch case is a H. The back cover of this watch case has a peacock design with 8 colored gemstones set in the gold cover 1-red colored gemstone for the eye. The body is composed of 2-aqua colored stones and 1-red stone. The tips of the tail feathers are decorated with 5-aqua colored stones. Similar to a constellation of stars in the sky. The aqua gemstones vary in color from blue green to pale green color. The front cover has initials engraved that appear as part of the overall design beautifully crafted. The dial has a couple of hairline cracks at the edges between VII and VIII at the bottom. Near the edge at the top near XI and XII. The gold tone of the watch case is glowing, the design on the inside covers is like a kaleidoscope, an optical illusion of depth very unique. This was not only meant to be functional as time piece. This was designed as a piece of jewelry that made a statement of wealth and importance for this time period. This pocket watch winds sets and runs, it keeps accurate time.
