A stunning 128 year old Elgin 14K gold hunter with a signed grade 113 11 jewel safety pinion gilt movement in excellent operating condition! This is your chance to own an exceptional Victorian 14K solid gold Elgin hunter cased pocket watch with amazing engraved case and covers! This beautiful antique timepiece has a case diameter of 34mm. The watch weighs a substantial 35.8 grams, about half of which is 14K gold. I mention the gold content for a base value only. I would never destroy a beautiful antique gold pocket watch for the gold content. It is my hope that this watch ends up in the hands of an ardent collector for many years of enjoyment and appreciation! This gorgeous antique Elgin is in excellent operating and very good overall condition with no dings, dents, scratches or repairs. The only thing keeping this watch from excellent is the front cover needs a finger of help to open when the stem is depressed. It does not “pop open”, but does open to exactly 90 degrees as it should. All other covers also open to exactly 90 degrees and all covers snap tightly shut. Also, the dial has a fine tight hairline running across from the 2 o’clock towards the 3 o’clock as seen in the photographs. Otherwise the watch is excellent including the original hinges. The watch is stem wind and set. The wind is silky smooth and it keeps excellent time. Note the incredible hand chased decorations that completely cover this superb example! Each cover features intricate florals, scrolls and flourishes that continues onto the case edge. Please examine the many photos for a close look. There’s an elegant monogram cartouche on the front cover that holds a very light monogram that can be easily buffed out if desired. The rear cover features a striking Victorian urn decoration surrounded by swags, florals and flourishes. The fine signed ” ELGIN ” porcelain dial is snow white. With original blue steel spade hands and black Roman numerals and a small seconds sweep marked out in 10 second intervals. All three covers and case are 14K solid yellow gold. The inside rear cover is stamped. The inside of the polished 14K gold cuvee bears the matching stamped serial number ” 114790 “. All serial numbers match, proving the watch to be all original. The watch has also been professionally tested and is fully guaranteed to be solid 14K gold.
