This is a very rare enamel gilt and shagreen (shark skin) outer case for a late 17th or early 18th century verge pocket watch. I have taken pictures with the digital vernier so you can see the sizes to see if your watch will fit this outer case. T he case has an enamel panel to the back and green studded sharkskin to the case ribs. The shagreen is mostly intact and in remarkable condition for a case that is nearly 300 years old. Unique and exclusive quarter-repeater with an original English Sterling silver case and a Swiss repeating timepiece. The pocket watch has recently been completely restored by a watchmaker. All parts inside and outside the watch are completely original. The dial has not been repainted or repaired either. This model is in very good condition. By pressing the button the time is indicated, two small hammers strike two gongs: first the hours with a single stroke and then the quarters with a double stroke. Wonderful piece of technology! Diameter is 52 mm without button for percussion and exclusive crown. Case is marked with the silver marks on the inside of the lid. Case is made of Sterling silver 925 with a golden knob. This is an uncommon pocket watch with a very beautiful, complicated timepiece. The pocket watch is more than a century old and may contain traces of use. It will be sent registered and insured. Early 1800s Fusee Solid 18k Gold Case And Tri Color Gold Dial RARE. This watch runs and stops, it never keeps time. The watch deserves a full restoration. The balances swings and it seems power is running down the train. The watch comes with 2 keys, the silver key is to wind the watch while its in the case, the brass key is for setting the hands while in case. When the watch is out of the case the brass key can provide both functions. The case with the crystal in weighs 49.53grams. The movement weighs 55.13grams. Together they weigh 104.72grams. The case is 18k gold and the dial I presume is as well. The balance cock is solid gold and there is a diamond end jewel for the upper balance jewel. The chain is not good nor are the keys. This watch is in extremely good shape for its age it just needs a little love. French Berthoud Silver Verge Pocket Watch 1800. A rare early 19th century silver open faced verge continental French pocket watch. The watch was made by the Eminent watch maker Berthoud from Paris and is signed on the dial and the movement: Berthoud à Paris. This watch is in working order with the plus of recently coming back from the watchmaker. It is rare to find a Berthoud in such an excellent condition as this one. Berthoud was a famous and important French watch maker with his works on display in many museums ; its a privilege to have a watch by Berthoud. Dial: The watch has a white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, outer Arabic minutes and nicely pierced gold hands. The dial is signed in the centre: “Berthoud à Paris”. The watch is key wound at the front and comes with an old watch key. The dial is in very good condition, many front wind dials suffer from key damage around the winding hole. This dial has no chips or damage. Case: The watch sits in a plain silver case which fits perfectly with the movement. The case has the stamp mark GAB with a crown above. Early French case marks are not my speciality, so not able to provide any further info on the case mark. The case measures 46mm in diameter. Movement: The full plate gilt fusee verge movement is in good working order and keeps to quite good time however I cannot guarantee perfection as it is a 219 year old plus antique watch. It has a finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator disk, plain round pillars between the plates.
