In heavy, stylish and beautifully made eighteen carat gold pair cases 57mm diameter. Both hallmarked 1806, case maker IN. Both movement and case are all original and in great condition. Case joints are perfect, and closes with no jumping. No old damage or repairs. The movement is in exceptional condition and runs well, it has recently been serviced. Verge fusee movement is all exquisitely finished with a superbly pierced and engraved balance cock and slide plate with the fire gilding perfect. With fitted dust cap. Verge escapement has jewelled balance holes, with a facetted diamond endstone on the balance cock. Beautiful dead white gloss enamel dial in perfect original condition, no chips cracks etc. And with no horrible acrylic’restoration. Stop lever for hack function if it is required to check the pulse etc. This watch is altogether in very good condition and appears not to have had much use. Together with morocco box. This is a working pair case pocket watch. Made in 1769 by Squire Murgatroyd. Movement is beautifully engraved, signed and has the date. I did try to find some history but i couldnt. All i found was this watch was serviced in halifax during the 1900s. Its possible i have mis spelled the name but i think im correct. Its solid silver and both the case and the watch is fully hallmarked. The watch is working and keeping time. As with all these watches i only ever half wind them, i dont like putting too much pressure on these fusee chains. The watch is currently sat here ticking away and keeping time on a two hour test. Silver pair cases, verge pocket watch, champleve calendar dial – London, c1700. Edmund Marsh, London, c1700. Silver pair cases, 56.5 mm. A good early London verge with original champleve calendar dial, in silver pair cases. MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with finely engraved and pierced winged balance cock, showing birds and a mask at the neck. Four tulip pillars and silver regulator disk. MARSH, LONDON and numbered (2538). The movement and calendar are both working. DIAL : Silver champleve dial, with calendar aperture, in very good condition. Nice original 18th century blued steel beetle and poker hands. INNER CASE : Silver, with no hallmarks. In quite good condition, though the pendant has been reattached and reinforced on the inside. However the pendant and bow appear to be original (of the correct simple style for c1700). There is a small section of the inner rim (about 10 mm) broken off the inner rim at 7 and a couple of old repairs. The hinge is worn, but complete. The high dome crystal is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. OUTER CASE : Silver pair case, with large square hinge (7 sleeves). Again with no hallmarks. The hinge, catch button and catch are fine and the case closes correctly. There are a couple of old repairs to the bezel and back, visible on the inside only, and some small bruises throughout. Rampton, watch maker and jeweller from hailsham high street around 1800. This watch is cased in solid silver. The dial is completly original and unrestored. New CHAIN on the way from England. Pair case hinge has one loose hinge-hole – may be soldered back by silversmith, if I don’t get to it myself. The watch is partly oiled.
