A Georgian silver pair cased verge pocket watch c1810 by P. The richly chased and engraved movement is in good cosmetic condition and takes a full wind, running the length of the chain in a face down position but tends to stop when face up so will need some work to rectify. The dial is in excellent order with no apparent damage and spade and whip hands are fitted. The silver cases are in very good age related condition with no large dents as pictured but the outer case button is worn through the top as is quite common with watches of this age. The high domed bullseye crystal is in good order. The watch measures over 54mm across and weighs 128g. The size of the outer gilt metal case is 45 m. In mint condition, with a very nice clean watchmakers paper so nice to have and rounds this fine watch off. The size of the case with then watch is 39 m. In mint condition, and so very nice to see how well this watch was looked after as the stem has never had to be repaired. All the hinges work well on the cases. Are very fine original beetle & poker hands. DIAL white enamel is mint. The glass is very high domed mineral and clean and clear. The fire gilt movement look just like the day it left the work shop. The watch runs well C aprox + or 1 minute per hour. With a very very fine engraved back plate with a decorated and engraved balance cock, a silver tompion regulator. Signed on the back plate ELLICOT LONDON The watch will come with a key. ELLICOT VERY WELL LISTED MAKERS. Just great to have such an amazing and interesting watch that is as good as this one, and it just has every thing one could want on a fine verge watch, very hard to find a watch in this condition with all that it has going for it. Gold repousse pair cased pocket watch, verge – William West, London, 1769. Gold repousse pair cases, 48.5 mm. A London verge watch, in gold repousse pair cases. MOVEMENT : Gilded verge escapement, with engraved and pierced balance cock. Four square pillars, silver regulator disk and blued screws. West, London and numbered (2982). The movement is in good original condition, and is running well. DIAL : The white enamel dial is in very good condition, with just a few light scratches, and no repairs or hairlines. Fine gold beetle and poker hands. INNER CASE : 22ct gold, hallmarked for London, 1769, makers mark IW. There is slight compression to the gold around the band, a few light bruises to the back and some bruises to the bezel. The stem has been reattached, but the stem and bow are in good condition and appear to be original. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome bulls eye crystal is fine. OUTER CASE : A fine quality 22ct gold pair case with repousse decoration showing a classical scene. In good condition with just a little wear to the high points of the repousse work. The hinge and catch are fine and the bezel snaps shut firmly. There is a William West recorded in London from about 1723 until his bankruptcy in 1776.
