No brass showing on case there is a name engraved in inner case. Hands nice black, the inner case where I must say some idiot didn’t know the proper way to open the back case so it is marred some. In 1888, the Illinois Watch Case Company was incorporated in Chicago. Two years later, the company decided to build a factory in Elgin, Illinois, to manufacture watch cases. During the transition, the company attempted to reorganize as the Elgin National Watch Case Company, attracting objections from the Elgin National Watch Company. The watch company had been established in Elgin for over twenty years at the time. In December 1892, a judge ruled that the case company could not utilize the “Elgin” name, so the company readopted the Illinois Watch Case Company name. However, to establish and reinforce its claim over the “Elgin Watch Case Company” name, the Elgin National Watch Company briefly organized a watch case company. In partnership with Benj. Gorgeous 1894 6s Elgin Hunter multicolor 14k solid gold pocket watch. Even has the original very hard to find exterior case! This is a 1894 size 6s, grade 119, 11j jewels. This watch is in great condition. Hard to find in this condition especially with original case! Hunter case serial number 265407. Etched inside with “Anna Smith 94″. 14k solid gold US Assay 52.35 grams. Serial Number 5792645 which the database comes up with 1894, grade 119, size 6s, 11j jewels and with a quantity of 2000. 0 size 15 jewel pendant-set lady’s pocket watch with a spectacular 14K multicolor gold hunting case. Case is by Keystone and features exquisite fancy engraving detail and an unusual fancy bow. Dial is sunk-seconds enamel. Movement has a damaskeened nickel finish and movement serial number is 16567526. Weight of complete watch is 22.1 dwt (34.5 grams). Fully wound and balance wheel does not move freely. Case is beautiful with exceptional crisp engraving detail but case does have some dents to its band, the most notable being in the 9:30 to 11:00 area and fairly sharp and deep but also with some lesser dents and dings in the 6:30 to 7:00 area.
