HALF HUNTER PAIR CASED VERGE FUSEE Pocket Watch. Recently fully serviced and in great working condition! Runs the full length of the chain with a hard sounding tick and keeping very well verge time I noticed almost no deviation per 24 hours runtime – WOW!!!! The movement shines like it was made yesterday, is signed “Mt Drayton” from Arkinstall and bears the serial number 4154. Nice old blue steel hands. All covers open and close with a tight fit as it should. Enamel dial with roman numerals in a splendid condition! Both cases have indentical hallmarks for London, year 1832. Cases are solid sterling silver, hand polished and looking great. Original old watchpaper and a fitting key are included. A superb addition to each valuable collection. QUAD CASE VERGE FUSEE POCKET WATCH MADE FOR THE TURKISH/OTTERMAN MARKET. IN STRONG RUNNING ORDER. A Rare Quad case verge fusee pocket watch by Edward Prior made for the Turkish market. The movement is signed Edwd Prior London, serial numbered 76975. The verge fusee movement has hybrid pillars, a finely pierced balance cock with pierced foot, a Turkish numeral Tompion style regulator and blued screws. The white enamel dial with Turkish display is signed Edward Prior London. It has a high dome glass crystal and beetle and poker hands. The innermost Sterling silver case is original to the movement. It is dated London 1861 and case maker stamped A. The case bezel containing the glass opens to access the swing out movement. The back of the case has a keyhole to wind the movement. 2nd case This Sterling silver case is hallmarked 1862 and case maker stamped W. S (William Calum Scott) and again hallmarked the same on the inside of the front bezel. The case has a spring backed button and catch to open the front cover. The edge of the case has fine cut engraved borders. This silver based case has a Tortoshell covering held in place with pique pins. The front bezel is hinged to open by pressing the spring-back button at position 3. Their is a watch paper inside by Edward & George Prior. The outer (largest of the four) silver case has engraved foliate decoration. The outer case measures 66mm in diameter. The dial and hands are in Excellent condition. Case 1&2 are in very good condition. Case 3&4 would benefit from a small amount of restoration which includes a few missing. Pique pins on c3 and a solder fill hole near the hinge on case 4 to improve their overall cosmetic appearances (if so desired). This is a very nice antique watch from a local estate. It measures 48mm in diameter (outer Case). The watch is in a plain silver pair case. The movement has square pillars, verge fusee, pierced balance cock, signed Cha Bifield 4787 LONDON. The movement is in very good condition, and runs. The white porcelain dial is original. It does have an edge chip at the bottom. The outer pair case has no marks whatsoever. The inner case has 2 marks visible that are rubbed and hard to read. I can see the lion silver standard, and the other mark looks like the crowned leopard head. There is also a case makers mark that looks like an HT to me. The outer case has some side dents from normal age and use. It has a good strong case lock spring. The watch has a plastic replacement crystal. A key is included. A GOOD ANTIQUE 18CT GOLD ENGLISH HUNTER CASE POCKET WATCH, ROTHERHAMS LONDON. Antique, 18CT Gold English Hunter Cased Pocket Watch by Rotherhams of London and dating from c1902. The English, plain, 18 carat gold case is hallmarked with the maker’s mark “JR” for Rotherham & Sons (John Rotherham), the “crown and “18″ for 18 carat gold, the anchor Birmingham town mark and date letter “c for 1902/03. The inner cuvette similarly marked. The English Lever movement is signed by the maker “Rotherhams, London” and serial number 244430. The watch is stem wound and pin set. The white enamel dial is in good overall condition, however does have some faint hairlines. It has the hours in roman numerals and is signed by the maker. The watch measures 51mm in diameter (across the case). The weight is 112.1g. The inner cuvette (dust cover) bears an interesting presentation inscription, the watch presented to a Civil Engineer. Presented to R W Newman Esq. E by Paarl Inhabitants to commemorate his erection of Huguenot Bridge, August 1st 1905.
