This is an American case with no movement. It is 18 size, hunter case, key wind and set. It is a RARE 6 ounce weight, and weighs 182.8 grams!! It has a good hinged bezel & crystal. No dents to either lid, just a few incidental scratches from normal use. No monograms in the shield. The case is marked “WARRANTED COIN SILVER”, and “6161″. The case has strong lock & lift springs. Good bow & case button. The case is used, but is really nice. It is plain on back, and a hand-chased ornate initial shield on the front lid. This case is a beauty, and really difficult to find. Early Elgin keywind pocket watch from about 1871. Made for John V Farwell & Co. Only about 2400 of these were made according to pocket watch data base. The 11 jewel movement is running strong. I see one small chip on the edge of the dial between 9 and 10. The front lid lift spring is weak. Lid opens to 90 degrees and has tight hinges. The 11 jewel movement is a model 1 grade 12 with a solid nickel balance. Serial number is 101015. The release button is well worn and does not stay in place properly.
