George prior Verge fusse Horn pair case pocket watch No 180. This is a key wind Horn pair case verge fusee made in the late 1700s. Case: The big outer case is made of brozen or silver? Has some dings and solder near the hinge, but not on the hinge itself. The 2nd case looks to be made of horn shell and I gurantee that it is. The case is in condition with some chips on the outer edge of the case and a few missing pins The bezel is in very good condition and gold gilting around the edges. The inner gold gilted case No 3 is in good condition with one small ding and the push pin has wear also has lost most of it’s gold gilting. The inner Movement case No 4 has no dings, but does have gold loss. The inside of the inner case has case maker Halmarks IB, The stem and bow are good, but also has gold loss.. The DIAL: The dial is white enamel has one hairline and signes GEORGE PRIOR LONDON. The gold hands are in good condition. This watch sets and winds with no problems. Has a bull nose glass crystal in very good condition. The Movement: The movement is a very old key wind verge fusee signed Geo Prior London 34741. I do not know when this movement was last overhauled, but it runs and winds and sets fine.. Watch size: Across 76mm With stem and bow 85mm. Extras: This watch comes with a key chain and key. 18C Ottoman Empire Turkish Crest Pair Case Silver Horn Verge Fusee Pocket Watch. A rather interesting find.. Made either in England or Switzerland for the Turkish market. I had it looked at by a specialist.. Who dated this to be from the 1750′s or so.. The chain of the watch was checked, along with the balance.. He then found a key to wind the watch.. And it began to tick…. The key is now included. It has been running for about 19 hours.. Running a little fast…… It was stated that the watch needs to be serviced. The short hand is also a little loose. He noted the push buttons that open the cases are both missing. The horn or pique on the outer case has significant wear… And at the back on the shell is what may be an under. Similar to what is now known as the Ottoman. It’s quite worn around the edges.. But the picture is for the most part intact. No crystal over the open face dial. There is only 1 mark inside the case…. JC in a diamond.. I was told the watches case is silver.. I’m unsure of the metal. The watch and it’s outer case measures about 3 1/2 long from very top to bottom.. 2 7/8 side to side.. There is a small loose piece of metal that I believe goes by the opening. Near where I have it placed. Do see my other fabulousfinds. THE CASE MEASURES 50MM IN DIAMETER MADE OF BRASS WITH GOLD GILT, HORN AND SMALL DECORATIVE PINS THAT ATTACH THE HORN TO THE CASE. THIS IS A UNDERPAINTED HORN CASE, INTERESTING PAINTING OF SERPENT AND THE TREE OF LIFE. THERE IS ALSO A SMALL BUTTERFLY AND FLY PAINTED ON THE EDGE.
