Century English Verge in underpainted horn gilt pair cases. C/w Key (not original). The watch is in ticking order but because of it’s age no guarantee can be given on the time keeping. As with all vintage watches, no claims are made regarding accuracy of time keeping. Vintage watches may need servicing, even if they are in good running condition, and unless otherwise stated they may need to be cleaned, timed, oiled or adjusted. Full plate fire gilt movement with Round pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, fine gold hands. There is a repair to the dial by 6 (see photo). Gilt metal pair cases, gilt pendant and bow. Plain gilt inner, maker’s mark “what looks like W P with an eight armed star above”. Gilt outer covered in translucent horn underpainted lady in costume, Vase and Plinth, Flora. The underpainted horn in a reasonable condition there is discoloration and split, the case is not a perfect fit around the top but it will close. M ALSO IN FIRST CLASS CONDITION HALLMARKED LONDON 1848 SAME AS THE OTHER CASE. All the hinges and clips work well on the cases. The enamel dial is nice condition with the makers name EDWARD PRIOR LONDON. (SLIGHT REPAIR TO 3-4 AND CENTRE). Very fine black hands that look original. The glass is VERY high domed. The fire gilt movement look just like the day it left the work shop. Back plate is signed by the maker EDWARD PRIOR LONDON. The watch is running well +or- 1-2 minuets per hour. This watch has just had a service. With a very fine engraved balance cock a silver silver Tompion regulator, GREAT PRIOR pillars. The watch will come with a key. Just great to have such an amazing and interesting watch that is as good as this one, and it just has every thing one could want on a fine verge watch, very hard to find a watch in this condition with all that it has going for it. George prior Big Verge fusee Horn pair case pocket watch No 185. This is a key wind BigHorn pair case verge fusee made in the late 1813. Case: The 1st case looks to be made of horn shell and I gurantee that it is. The case is in beautiful condition with a few missing pins The bezel is in very good condition and silver gilting around the edges. The inner gold gilted case No 2 is in very good condition with one small ding and the push pin has slight wear. The inside has the London , date and silver halmarks and Case makers IR halmark The inner Movement case No 3 has a few small dings and has the same halmarks as the outer case. The stem and bow are very good. The DIAL: The dial is white enamel has one hairline and signes GEORGE PRIOR LONDON. Has no hairlines or chips. The pure gold hands are in very good condition. This watch sets and winds with no problems. Has a bull nose glass crystal in very good condition. The Movement: The movement is a very old key wind verge fusee signed Geo Prior London 38197.
