Antique Waltham POCKET WATCH. Collector’s estate find. Watch DOES NOT RUN, balance staff is bad. Sets and winds though. An old winding key is included, shown in the picture. Service history is unknown. Serial on movement #1240673, circa 1879. Manual wind (key wind, key set from front) 7 jewels Model 1876, Grade “Home Watch” Original 12 porcelain dial, 41.8mm, no name, excellent, no hairlines. Open face case, silver, Chester 1878, maker E. Good original unbuffed condition All covers/bezel snaps OK. Personal engraving on dustcover. Beveled glass crystal is in excellent condiition, very clear, looks NOS. Measures 47 mm wide, 56 mm tall, 16 mm thick. Total weight of watch: 92 grams. Not guaranteed or tested as waterproof, like any vintage watch. WALTHAM 18s MODEL 1857 “HOME” POCKET WATCH – NICE COIN CASE WANTS TO RUN! PLEASE CONTACT ME IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR ORDER!!!!!!!!! For your consideration we have Waltham 18 size, “HOME” key wind and set, pocket watch that wants to run, but is not running. The balance staff looks to be good. The dial has very, very light hairlines. The hands look very nice. The crystal is not the proper crystal but it works fine. It is housed in a very nice W. The case is heavy and has a horse engraving on one side and a very small design on the other side. It has the usual wear, with some scratches and dings, but is still considered to be in very good condition for it’s age. The push button to open the case has flattened out over time, which is common in these silver cases. The button is silver too. The case lift spring is missing. The serial number is 317211 which dates the watch to circa 1867; just post Civil War era. A key is included but not pictured. Please refer to pictures for more information. Note that we try winding the movements and then state our observations as we write the ads. Not much to research , but I did find a 1867 with the serial number of 351, xxx , so I’m guessing this to be around 1870 to 1880. Smooth running, the case is very nice , the crystal has some lite scratches, but the dial looks not to be cracked, and in decent condition.
